Daphnia
Daphnia
Hello friends, Welcome to zoology museum, Shri Shivaji Science College Nagpur. I am Daphnia, a small freshwater crustacean, also known as a water flea. My body is transparent, allowing you to see my internal organs. I feed on algae and bacteria by filtering water through my specialized appendages. I am a key component of freshwater ecosystems, serving as a food source for fish. My reproductive cycle can be asexual or sexual, depending on environmental conditions. I can survive harsh conditions by producing dormant eggs that hatch when favorable conditions return. My sensitivity to pollution makes me an important bioindicator for water quality. Thank you visit again.
