Herdmania

Hello friends welcome to Zoology Museum Shri Shivaji Science college, Nagpur. I am Herdmania, a sessile sea squirt. I am a tunicate, closely related to vertebrates. My body is barrel-shaped and covered with a tough outer tunic. I live attached to rocky substrates in shallow marine waters. I filter-feed by drawing in water through my siphons. My siphons help me both to breathe and to feed. I’m a hermaphrodite, containing both male and female reproductive organs. I can regenerate lost parts of my body. I play a role in marine ecosystems by filtering water. I am an important organism for evolutionary studies due to my chordate features. Thank you visit again.
