Hystrix

Hello friends welcome to museum of Zoology Department, Shri Shivaji Science College, Nagpur.I am Hystrix, commonly known as the porcupine. My body is covered in sharp quills for defense.I have strong claws for digging burrows.My quills are modified hairs that can detach when predators strike.I emit a rattling sound by shaking my quills when threatened.I am a solitary animal, except during mating season.I have poor eyesight but a keen sense of smell.
