Petromyzon (Lamprey)
Petromyzon (Lamprey)
Hello friends welcome to Zoology Museum Shri Shivaji Science college, Nagpur. I’m Petromyzon, commonly known as the sea lamprey. I’m a jawless fish with a sucker-like mouth. I’m parasitic, latching onto other fish to feed on their blood. I have a long, eel-like body with no scales. I spend part of my life in freshwater and part in the sea. I’m considered a primitive vertebrate with ancient lineage. I can have a significant impact on fish populations. I have small, sharp teeth that help me grip my host. I’m a key species for studying vertebrate evolution. I undergo metamorphosis from larva to adult. Thank you visit again
