Sipunculus
Sipunculus
Hello Friends, Welcome To Zoology Museum, Shri Shivaji Science College Nagpur. I am Sipunculus, a marine worm commonly known as the peanut worm due to my ability to contract into a peanut-like shape when disturbed. I live in burrows or crevices on the ocean floor, often in muddy or sandy environments. My body is unsegmented, and I use a retractable, muscular introvert to capture food particles from the water. I feed on detritus and small organic particles. My body can elongate and contract as needed for movement or to avoid predators. I reproduce by releasing eggs and sperm into the water, where fertilization occurs externally. Thank you visit again.
