The first Carmelite foundation in Tanzania
The Order of Carmelites (O.Carm) exists in Tanzania since 2009. Efforts to establish the Order of Carmelites in Tanzania began in 1988 when a group of young people in Tanzania went to Italy for formation and philosophical and theological study. They were formed at Carmine Maggiore -"La Bruna" in Naples. After the period of formation and study, they returned to their country and have officially launched the mission on 01 / 10/2009 in Bunju "A" in the Archdiocese of Dar esSalaam. Their first convent was blessed on 08/10/2009 by His Excellency bishop Methodius Kilaini, former auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam.They are currently working in the parish of "Our Lady of Mount Carmel" which was declared a parish on 24.08.2012 by His Eminence, Cardinal Polycarp Pengoduring the ordination of Fr. John Dominic Somola.

The Carmelite postulants who study philosophy at JUCO-Morogoro
In 2014 July four youths were received at bunju to begin an experience of Carmelite life. After one year of experience, they arrived in Morogoro in November 2, 2015 to begin philosophy at Jordan University College. Their names are Dicksoni Sambala, Athanas Ngasa, Pascal Deogratias Dominic and Peter.
