Dear Leawood Families,
Next week, we will be actively supporting Columbine’s High School Wish Week with dress-up days and restaurant nights. This is a recent tradition that started last year in which Columbine High School works in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant the wish of a student from the Columbine Articulation Area. Last year, we were honored to support a former Leawood student, Leyton Rogers. This year, they are sponsoring a 2nd grader from Normandy Elementary named Amelia. For her wish, she would love to go to Disney, so the whole week is Disney-themed! Wish Week starts on February 3rd and concludes on February 7th with a Carinval at CHS from 5 pm-8 pm. Please look at the dress-up days and fundraising nights to see how you can support Amelia to help her wish come true!
Parking Lot Safety:
Please remember these essential parking lot safety tips:
Follow Designated Drop-Off/Pick-Up Zones: Use only designated areas for drop-off and pick-up. When dropping off, please pull up as far as you can to where the cones curve.
For pick-up do not exit the car unless you are in a parking spot. The Hug and Go area is designated for parents to stay in the car. If you want to walk your children to the door please find a space to park.
Students should be ready to exit the car promptly and should exit the vehicle on the sidewalk
Observe Speed Limits: Drive cautiously in the parking lot and adhere to posted speed limits.
Mind Pedestrian Crossings: Exercise extra caution in areas where pedestrians may be present, especially during arrival and dismissal times. It is recommended when walking towards the school from the east, you walk around the parking lot rather than continuing on the sidewalk across the entrance and exit. The reason is that there is a lot of sun glare for the drivers making a left into the parking lot as they are facing east.
Park only in lined spaces and park in handicap if you have the necessary placard
Cell Phone Etiquette: Refrain from using your cell phone while driving and maintain focus and awareness.
Stay Patient: During busy times, like drop-off and pick-up, patience is key. Allow extra time to navigate the parking lot safely.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a secure environment for everyone.
Panorama Family Survey
Our school is committed to ensuring that your experience with our school is collaborative, successful and helps your child learn and grow. We want to know how we are doing. Panorama Education is a company that conducts student and family surveys in schools and districts across the country.
Below is a link to complete a survey about family-school partnerships. The survey is anonymous and will take around 15 – 20 minutes to complete. The results will be compiled into school-level climate reports. These reports will be used by district leadership and school staff to continue the positive work of our schools while identifying and addressing current needs.
The family survey opens Tuesday, January 21, and closes Friday, February 7.
Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback!
