Introducing Student Insights

Last spring Jeffco introduced School Insights, a web-based resource that offers information about Jeffco schools to help you stay informed and engaged in school quality and improvement efforts. Now, we’re excited to share the new Student Insights, which provides information about each student’s learning progress.

Student Insights makes it easy to access information about each student’s district and state tests and their individual learning plan goals. It is a helpful way to check in on learning progress, review academic goals, and identify issues to talk about with teachers.

Student Insights is confidential and may only be accessed by Jeffco students and their parents or guardians using the log-in name and password you use for other district tools, such as Infinite Campus.

You can learn more by watching this short video, reading the Frequently Asked Questions, or by talking with your student’s teacher or the school principal. Please check out this new resource and let us know what you think!

If you have questions feel free to reach out to the instructional coach Jamie Kelley at jakelley@jeffco.k12.co.us

Leawood Book Exchange

Leawood's Book Exchange will be open starting in October!  Students can bring a book to exchange for another book when the Book Exchange is open in their hallway.  Students can keep the book they get or bring it back and exchange it for another book at a future time.  Students should bring books that are gently used, in good enough condition for another student to enjoy.

The Book Exchange will be in the front hallway for students in grades PK-2nd the first and third weeks of the month.  It will be moved to the intermediate hallway for our 3rd-5th graders in the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month.   If your home is low on books, but you would like your child to participate, please let your child's teacher know and we will get them started with a book.

Thank you to our student leaders who will be helping kids with the book exchange this year!

Track Updates

From our Social Emotional Learning Specialist

We are off to a great start with our Second Step lessons! Students have been doing a lot of learning and practicing around growth mindset and goal setting. We have worked on learning how to pay attention and manage distractions, develop a growth mindset, and apply goal-setting strategies to their social and academic lives.

In a couple of weeks, we will be switching to Unit 2: Emotion Management. In this unit, children will learn how to identify and label emotions and use emotion management strategies—including stress management for older students—to calm strong feelings. Keep an eye out for the Home link that will be emailed or printed for Friday folders when we begin Unit 2.
