Wall of Pride
The Wall of Pride is Leawood’s way of acknowledging our responsible students. These good citizens are chosen by their teachers for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility and Safety. Students can be recognized for any of these traits during any month of the year, with the expectation that each student is recognized at least one time. These students will have their picture taken and will eat lunch with Mrs. Shehan during the monthly Wall of Pride lunch. The September Wall of Pride Students are:

Accountability
Thank you to everyone who attended our first Accountability meeting in September! We had a lot of new faces in the room and we look forward to our work together this year. At this first meeting, we created the agenda for the year, as well as reviewed Leawood's performance summary.
Last week, we met as a team with teachers and staff for a "data dig." Each year, Accountability is part of looking at our School Performance Framework and our CMAS results to come up with our UIP Priority Challenges and Major Improvement Goals. This year, staff will be focused on Effective Differentiation, Effective Interventions, Vertical Communication, and Aligning Resources. As part of the Accountability Committee, it is our job to keep the school on task with these goals.
At the District Accountability meeting, there was much discussion on 5A, 5B, and Amendment 73. 5A is a $33 million mill levy that will keep the funds local to Jefferson County. These funds will be used for STEM, making school more "attractive", mental health, and expanding early childhood education. 5B is a one time bond that will use the money for construction. This would be replacing 3 schools, and adding 2 new elementary schools. The construction at Ken Carly middle school has already been contracted, and will begin no matter the outcome of the election. Amendment 73 is statewide, and will give education in Colorado $1.6 billion dollars. This works out to be $1,609 MORE per student in Jefferson County.
Our next meeting is Wednesday, November 7th at 5:00pm in the library. This will be an exciting meeting where we will discuss the outcomes of the election, and discuss the schools goals. ALL voice matter, and we need yours!!
