MAY MEETING
If you missed the May meeting, we heard from many of our teachers about fun family things to do this summer. Here is a recording of the meeting: MAY PTSA MEETING. Click for the presentation HERE
We Need YOU!!
We need help with a few committees right at the start of the school year! How would you feel about Volunteering at the start of the school year and then being DONE with all PTSA responsibility? One and Done!! If we don't have volunteers than we cannot continue with these programs!
Veterans Day Assembly- Volunteers needed to help set up and coordinate that day's schedule.
Reflections Program- Collect entries and check that they meet requirements the day they are due (usually in Oct). Judge entries according to given criteria.
Contact Melissa Kohn if you are interested!
There's just something about saying we have LEAWOOD PRIDE! During JSEL summer school last week, teachers shared that when they went around asking students what was their home school, many replied, Powderhorn, Colorow, Normandy etc... but every Leawood student said, "I'm a Leawood Lion!"
Leawood is looking to start a Watch D.O.G.S. group for MOMS (or Mothers of Marvelous Students) if you would be interested in helping get this program off the ground for the 2021-22 school year, please reach out to Martha.Shehan@jeffco.k12.co.us to get more details and find out about the next planning meeting.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW ACCOUNTABILITY CHAIR This position is for someone eager to work side by side with the principal and teachers, serving as an advisor for many important school and community issues. We look at data from testing and from student and parent surveys, set academic and social/emotional goals, and track the progress toward those goals. We look at our budget, make decisions around major purchases and staffing, and prioritize our school spending. We also monitor safety issues and partner with our district when concerns arise so we problem solve together. This position is a great way to always be "in the know" with all things Leawood and Jefferson County School District. If you're interested, please contact Principal Shehan at Martha.Shehan@jeffco.k12.co.us
Wall of Pride
The Wall of Pride is Leawood’s way of acknowledging our responsible students. These good citizens are chosen by their teachers for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility and Safety. Students can be recognized for any of these traits during any month of the year, with the expectation that each student is recognized at least one time. These students will have their picture taken and ate lunch with Mrs. Shehan during the monthly Wall of Pride lunch in May. The May Wall of Pride Students were:
