FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Leawood Families,

I hope you all enjoyed time with your friends and family during our spring break. As our students and staff return, we are hitting the ground running for the final stretch. April is filled with our state testing called CMAS for 3rd - 5th grade students, field trips for various grades, PTSA meetings, the Spring Fling hosted by PTSA, Parent in Education meetings (PIE) plus most importantly, continued instruction.

Leawood continues to monitor and remain vigilant in respect to safety. When visiting Leawood, remember to sign in and wear a name tag. All students arriving after the morning bell must be accompanied by an adult.

We appreciate the safety in our parking lot and cross walks as well. Thank you for driving slowly and cautiously in the parking lot, and for using the hug and go lane quickly. The flow of traffic goes much better when we all work together. Many of us help with cross walk duty during the morning and afternoon times of day. Thank you to our Watch Dog Dads and Marvelous Moms for helping with this duty as well. We appreciate how everyone works together.

I’m so very proud of the achievement that can be seen in our classrooms at this time of year. Our students have grown both academically and socially. Everyday I am thankful for the amazing and committed staff we have who nurture our students continued growth.

Sincerely,

Marcy Hoefner, Interim Principal

Attention 3rd-5th Grade Parents:

CMAS State Testing

In April, our 3rd through 5th grade students will begin taking the CMAS state assessments. These assessments provide us with another measure of how our students are progressing toward state standards. We use this information as another way to ensure that we are meeting the needs of each student in our school. This data also allows us to make sure our classroom instruction is supporting our students. We appreciate your support in making sure that your child is at school on time during the testing.  Please check the schedule of testing for your student(s) and try to avoid any appointments during this time.  Thank you.
