November From PTSA & Accountability

Halloween Parties!

We need some helpers for our Halloween Parties next Wednesday. Please check out your child’s class to see what is needed. Visit the volunteer page on our Leawood PTSA webpage to sign up! Or you can click on the link below:

SCRIP!!!  SCRIP!!! SCRIP!!!  SCRIP!!! SCRIP!!! SCRIP!!!  SCRIP!!! SCRIP!!!

We have had a surge of families signing up for Scrip and PrestoPay (www.shopwithscrip.com) and the mobile service (www.myscripwallet.com).  All of these families are earning money for their student’s Outdoor Lab and Chromebooks.  A special shout out to Natasha Cisneros, who has embraced Scrip in a HUGE way and is earning rebates on almost all of her everyday expenditures.  GREAT JOB Natasha!

We will have 2 order dates in November - order those holiday gift cards for friends, family, teachers, etc…  Order dates are Friday November 2nd and Friday November 16th.

Have questions?  Just email LeawoodLoot@outlook.com or call/text Stephanie Schmalz at 303-570-6010.

Children's Holiday Workshop:

The Children's Holiday workshop is fast approaching! Mark your calendars for December 15th for the Workshop! Flyers went home in Friday folders on October 26th. Check out the crafts this year in the display case by the front office or go online to shop the store:

Orders are due on November 14th! This year is also different in that there are only a certain number of each craft available, so get your orders in EARLY! Orders will only be taken online as well. We can't wait to see you all there!

Community Night

November 8th is our next Community Night at IHOP.  Just for fun, we're having a PJs at School Day, so come to school in your jammies and join us for breakfast for dinner at the IHOP!

American Furniture Warehouse Rally Nov 9th-18th

You can purchase anytime to support our school… BUT, COMING SOON, YOU ARE INVITED TO SHOP AT AFW’s STORE RALLY, Friday, Nov. 9 – Sunday, Nov. 18 (10-Days) TO HELP US MAXIMIZE OUR NEXT DONATION that we receive soon afterwards. Just tell the cashier you are supporting Leawood at checkout.  Look for the flyer coming home soon in your child’s Friday folder for more info. PLUS, your purchase earns you a chance to win $500 with a chance for a matching $500 donation to our school. Thank you for your support!

Spring Fling

The first Spring Fling meeting was a success! The date is locked in for April 5th at Breckenridge Brewery. There will be food, adult beverages, silent and live auction, and That Eighties Band!!

We are looking for sponsors for this event! If you have a business you would like some advertising for, please contact Melissa Kohn at mekohn4@gmail.com or Ryan Buckley at rbuckley7@gmail.com.

We also need donations for the silent auction. We are looking for anything and everything! This year we want to celebrate our Leawood Community by sharing our talents and businesses for the auction and keeping it local. Please email Melissa if you have something you can donate. No items too big or too small :)

If you are interested in joining us for our next meeting, it will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 6:30 at the home of Melissa Kohn. Please email if you are interested in coming!

PTSA Meeting

Our next PTSA meeting will be Wednesday, November 28th from 6:00-7:30PM in the Leawood Library. Child Care is provided!! We hope to see you all there!

Accountability

Our next meeting is Wednesday, November 7th at 5:00pm in the library. This will be an exciting meeting as we will know the results of 5A and 5B as well as Amendment 73.

The Accountability Committee is a very important committee for the school. We discuss budget, where monies go, what needs improved in the school, and any other pressing matters that have to do with the school. We need input from parents and community members. Please consider joining us this month, and invite a neighbor! We will provide snacks and good conversation :)

If you have any questions or would like more information, please reach out to Leawood's Accountability Chair, Melissa Kohn at mekohn4@gmail.com

Wall of Pride

The Wall of Pride is Leawood’s way of acknowledging our responsible students. These good citizens are chosen by their teachers for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility and Safety. Students can be recognized for any of these traits during any month of the year, with the expectation that each student is recognized at least one time. These students will have their picture taken and will eat lunch with Mrs. Shehan during the monthly Wall of Pride lunch. The
