Would you like to help show our teachers, paraprofessionals, office staff, building maintenance team, and cafeteria crew how much they mean to all of our students and families? You do? Then I need YOU!
For the last few years I have led the efforts to shower our staff with notes, food, treats, etc… during National Staff Appreciation Week. This year I am looking for anyone that would like to help organize the events. I have a theme, I have idea, I have plans, but I need additional (fresh) ideas, and others that would like to help.
Please shoot me a text or give me a call on 303-570-6010. Thank you!! Stephanie Schmalz
Please turn in paper orders to the lock box in the lobby at Leawood. Do NOT give it to your teacher.

Thank you to all who continue to come to the accountability meetings! EVERY VOICE COUNTS! We welcome family and community members to join us to discuss the school budget, upcoming events in the school, community, and district, and all the goings on in education. At this month's meeting we discussed how 5A impacts us directly, such as having a Social Emotional Learning Teacher in each elementary building. We also discussed the family partnership survey. In this survey we found the 2 areas that families wanted more clarification on were how their child is doing socially in school, and how to discuss problems. From this, we have created a communication plan that is currently being created by a team. Chromebooks will become a part of the curriculum for every student in the coming years, and we had a conversation about how this might look. The last item that was covered was how the teachers are working on differentiated lessons for each child as we continue to see the gap in abilities widen each year. Leawood teachers are working hard to see growth in all areas for all of their students.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 5th at 5pm in the library. We would love to see lots of people there. There will be FREE FOOD! And, if you bring a community member who is not a parent, you will be entered to win a gift card! Please join us for an important voice for our school.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please reach out to Leawood's Accountability Chair, Melissa Kohn at mekohn4@gmail.com
