District Approved Excused Absences
A student who is absent for an extended period due to physical, mental, or emotional disability.
Excused absences include funerals, illness, injury, legal obligations, medical procedures and religious observations, and extenuating circumstances determined by the principal.
A student who is attending a school sponsored activity
A student who is visiting a parent or guardian who is an active duty member of the uniformed services and has been called to duty, is on leave from, or immediately returning from deployment to a combat zone or combat support posting.
If no reason is left on the attendance line, the absence will be unexcused
As much as we would love to, we cannot excuse an absence for family fun time, or birthdays.

Veterans Day Celebration
We will be holding our annual Veterans Day Assembly on Monday, November 11th at 8:15 am. Veterans and families who would like to honor a Veteran are welcome to join our celebration honoring those who have fought for our Freedom! All grade levels have prepared something special for our Vets to help make them feel very special and appreciated.
Another way we like to help make the Vets feel special is by honoring them in a slideshow during our assembly. If you have a vet you would like to celebrate, please fill out this Google form. Veterans Day At Leawood

Leawood needs decorations for the upcoming winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Ramadan and Lunar New Year. Please bring your donations to the front office. We are so appreciative of your contributions to decorate our school.
Cheerleading Competition
Cheerleading Competition
Come cheer on the Leawood Cheerleaders as they compete in their first Cheerleading Competition. The competition will be held at Dakota Ridge High School on Saturday, November 16 from 9:00-1:00. The cheerleaders perform at 10:55am. $5 entry fee (cash only)

Wear clothing that will keep you warm. Be careful of ice on stairs and sidewalks. Keep snow on ground, no snowballs. Have fun in the snow! PK-2nd needs boots and 3-5, shoes or boots.

New Optional fees have been added for Clubs. If your student is participating in a club, please make sure that you log in to Infinite Campus and you pay the fee. Fees for clubs are non refundable because teachers buy supplies based on number of students' signed up.
Please pay any outstanding fees by logging into Infinite Campus. Field trip fees have been added.
Despite meals being served at no cost for all students, beginning July 1, families need to complete a Meal Benefits Application on School Café. Completing this form is one of the ways to be considered eligible for other potential benefits the district may offer (i.e. fee waivers).
5th grade students with any outstanding fees by the end of the school year won't be able to attend the End of the Year party. Please make sure the fees are paid.
