The crossing guard on Jay and Leawood only cross in the east-west crosswalk. Students walking along the south side of Leawood Drive must walk all the way to the stoplight in front of school to cross.
When dropping off or picking up students along Jay Drive, do not wave them into traffic to cross. They must walk up to the stop sign and be safely crossed east - west by the crossing guard on duty. Please do not make U turns for the safety of our students.
When dropping off in the hug and go lane along the east parking lot, please have your student ready to exit the car quickly and safely without needing to spend a lot of time gathering their bags etc. Keeping this lane moving quickly helps keep it safer for everyone.
There is NO Parking in the hug and go lane. If you need to exit your car, you need to park in a slot and use the crosswalk.
Please do not park in a slot and then wave your student across the hug and go lanes. All students exiting the 3rd, 4th and 5th doors need to cross to the parking lot using the crosswalk by the preschool doors.
There is no crosswalk at the entrance and exit of the east parking lot. Students walking must walk all the way around using the parking lot sidewalk. Especially in the winter when they pile snow removal on those rocks, visibility is dangerously poor for cars turning out of the parking lot onto Leawood Drive
Please be sure you are calling the attendance line whenever your student will be out. Emailing the teacher as well is fine, but they don't always check it before Leah in the office pulls the line. Please leave a reason why your child is going to be absent. If a reason is not given, the absence will be unexcused. If you haven't called in, you will always receive a call to confirm your student's whereabouts. We will keep calling everyone on your emergency list until we confirm. Preschool needs to use this line as well.
School starts at 7:45am for grades PK(am)-5 and 8:00am for full day Preschool. Students are marked tardy if they arrive after 7:45 and 8:00 for Full Day Preschool.
PM Preschool starts at 11:45, students will be marked tardy after 11:45.
If you are picking your child up early, please call the office in advance at 303-982-7860.
We will get your child after you arrive.
If your student is going to be absent for 3 or more days, please fill out a Pre-Arranged Absence Form and turn it into the office 3 days prior to the scheduled absence. Without this form your child will not be excused.
Fieldtrips and clubs have been added to some student's fees. Please go into Infinite Campus and check your student's account to be sure that there are not any outstanding fees. Students with any owed Club fees will no longer be able to participate.
Despite meals being served at no cost for all students, beginning July 1, families need to complete a Student Benefits Application. Completing this form is one of the ways to be considered eligible for other potential benefits the district may offer (i.e. fee waivers).
If you would like to arrange a payment plan, contact Mrs. Russell at 303-982-7860 ext #5.
