A student who is absent for an extended period due to physical, mental, or emotional disability.
Excused absences include funerals, illness, injury, legal obligations, medical procedures and religious observations, and extenuating circumstances determined by the principal.
A student who is attending a school sponsored activity
A student who is visiting a parent or guardian who is an active duty member of the uniformed services and has been called to duty, is on leave from, or immediately returning from deployment to a combat zone or combat support posting.
If no reason is left on the attendance line, the absence will be unexcused
As much as we would love to, we cannot excuse an absence for family fun time, or birthdays.

*If your child is going to be late, please walk them in the school and sign them in. Do not send them in by themselves.
Although the weather is turning cooler, we wanted to send a friendly reminder about our school's dress code expectations. Our policy is designed to ensure a learning environment that is respectful, safe, and focused on academics for all students.
Please ensure that clothing covers the student appropriately at all times. Specifically, the following items are not permitted at school:
Crop Tops and Midriff-Baring Shirts
Spaghetti Straps and Halter Tops
We are sending this update because we have seen a recent increase in students wearing items that do not align with our guidelines.
Students who arrive at school wearing clothing that does not meet the dress code will be asked to fix the issue by covering it up with a sweatshirt. If one is not available, we can provide another shirt to borrow from the office. We sincerely hope that these friendly reminders are all that we will need to correct this behavior.
Thank you for your partnership in helping us maintain a positive and focused learning environment for everyone.
We will be holding our annual Veterans Day Assembly on Monday, November 11th at 8:15 am. Veterans and families who would like to honor a Veteran are welcome to join our celebration honoring those who have fought for our Freedom! All grade levels have prepared something special for our Vets to help make them feel very special and appreciated. Click HERE for more information.
If you have any questions, please contact Savannah DeVries or Lindsay Cummings at savannah.wallace@jeffco.k12.co.us or lindsay.cummings@jeffco.k12.co.us
PTSA is looking for volunteers to help set up the library for Veteran's Day. If you are interested, please contact Amber Martin at ambermartin3214@gmail.com
If your family is impacted by the upcoming loss of SNAP benefits, we would like to offer a couple of resources. Many area schools participate in the Food for Thought BakPak Program, which provides small bags of food each weekend for students. Bags of food are discreetly placed in student's backpacks and information is confidential with the school social worker. Please complete the Request for Support and click "Food for Thought".

Leawood is always accepting King Soopers gift cards in the amount of $25.00 to help our families in need. If you would like to donate, please send gift cards in an envelope with your child marked "Leawood Office" or drop off in the office when you are here. We appreciate your generosity!
The pile is getting bigger and bigger and there are a lot of jackets looking to go home. Please stop by the Lost and Found and check out to see if anything belongs to your child.
Come cheer on the Leawood Cheerleaders as they perform at Dakota Ridge High School on Saturday, November 1 at 12:15pm. $5 entry fee (cash only)
Just a friendly reminder...... Don't forget to change your clocks on Sunday, November 2, 2025. You get to sleep in the next day!
New Optional fees have been added for Clubs. If your student is participating in a club, please make sure that you log in to Infinite Campus and you pay the fee. Fees for clubs are non- refundable because teachers buy supplies based on number of students' signed up.
Please pay any outstanding fees by logging into Infinite Campus. Field trip fees have been added.
When you go to Infinite Campus you need to click on "More", on the left, at the bottom. The "Information page" will appear. At the bottom of that page under "Quick Links" click on "Jeffco Student Fee Payment" and your student's name should appear. Click on the name.
Despite meals being served at no cost for all students, beginning July 1, families need to complete a Student Benefits Application. Completing this form is one of the ways to be considered eligible for other potential benefits the district may offer (i.e. fee waivers).
5th grade students with any outstanding fees by the end of the school year won't be able to attend the End of the Year party. Please make sure the fees are paid.
Feel free to contact Mrs. Russell with any questions at 303-982-7860 ext. #5.
