Welcome to the school year of 2018-2019. I am looking forward to this school year and being here at Leawood for my second year as the preschool director. I am a Leawood alumni, therefore I have always called Leawood my home. I love this school dearly, and this school has a sense of love, compassion, and community that no other school has. This school year is going to be a great year with lots of learning, fun, and adventures ahead.
Preschool is an exciting time. It is where students are starting to be more independent and accomplish tasks on their own. Preschool is also a time for new friends, beginnings, adventures, discoveries, and challenges. My staff and I are here to help your child along all these new adventures and challenges.
For the 2018-19 staff at Leawood Preschool, we have myself, the preschool director serving as the morning teacher on the Dragonfly side as well. My partner is Lori Whittington, who is also the full day teacher. On the Ladybug side, we have Laura Lingle and Laura Martin. This is both of their third year at Leawood. They absolutely love Leawood and love being in preschool. We also have our Special Education Teacher, Kate Logan who will be here one to two times a week. We welcome back Ashley Doherty as our Speech Language Teacher, one to two times a week. Our OT is Carol Barela, and she comes in as needed. The staff is great and will be here for your children.
For some of you, this is not your first year in preschool, but for others this is your first time with your first child. I want to ensure that my staff and I work hard to make sure all students’ needs are met, and they enjoy their time in preschool. If any questions or concerns arise, please do not hesitate to call, email, or talk to me during drop off or pick up. If I am unavailable, any of my staff can answer your questions.
