PTSA meetingS

Thank you to all those who participated in the first virtual PTSA meeting on September 16th . It was so wonderful to see so many new faces!! We still have positions to fill, so if you are interested, please reach out to leawoodptsa@gmail.com

If you haven’t joined the PTSA yet, it’s only $8.00/year ($14.50 double membership) and really does help us support all the wonderful things happening at Leawood. Remember, you get a free Leawood Pride car decal with every membership.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 21st at 6PM via ZOOM.

Memberhub

Leawood PTSA supports critical academic needs, is an active voice on decisions that impact your child’s health, safety and quality of education, and builds a stronger, more inclusive school community. In that spirit, Leawood PTSA has started using an online communication tool called MemberHub.com. We are using MemberHub to help keep you informed and engaged with what is happening this next school year. Within our MemberHub site, you will find several HUBS to be involved in (holiday workshop, room parents, talent show, etc.), our e-store for memberships/ donations, newsletters, signup sheets, shared calendar events, files, photos, reminders, and much more all in one place!

With MemberHub you have access to:

Your information is stored securely and privately. Please visit our memberhub join page https://leawoodlions.memberhub.com/hub /Everyo58878 to add you and your family to the Leawood PTSA's MemberHub site. We would love to have you as official PTSA members (remember: you’ll get a free Leawood Pride car decal if you join PTSA), but you do not have to be a PTSA member in order to join our Memberhub site.

sustenance for staff!

Our AMAZING staff has done such a wonderful job this year! We want to show some appreciation for them by providing meals on the days conferences are scheduled (October 13th/14th). Because of COVID, we cannot provide pot luck style options, so we are asking for monetary donations this year to provide pre packaged meals.  Thank you so much for showing your support for our fantastic staff!

Holiday Workshop - Vote for your Favorite Items!

Please vote for your favorite items here or use the QR code on your mobile phone.  The Top 7 will be available for order at the end of October for delivery in late November/early December.  Voting ends October 9th!  Please join the Holiday Workshop hub on Memberhub for additional information or to volunteer to help.

Community Night~

Leawood Community Night will be Thursday, October 8th from 4-8pm at Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers at 2660 W Belleview, Littleton, 80123.

Mention Leawood, or show the flier electronically for Leawood to receive 15% back from the sales! Thank you for supporting our wonderful school!

autumn auction

The fall fundraiser this year is going to be our Autumn Auction! Because of Covid, and wanting to keep everyone healthy and safe, the auction will be ALL ONLINE.

The fun part...it will last for an ENTIRE WEEK! The auction will open on October 18th, and continue until the 24th. There will be lots of great items to bid on, as well as classroom projects form last year and staff experiences!

A flier with app and website information will be sent home in Friday folders and posted on our Facebook page in early October. We will be using HandBid, and many of you may still have the app from previous years' fundraisers.

COVID may stop us from any in person gatherings, but it will not stop us from putting the FUN in FUNdraising!!

If you have any questions, please contact Melissa Kohn at mekohn4@gmail.com

Other easy Fundraising opportunities

SCRIP Program

Support Leawood PTSA and earn rebates to apply towards your child's Jeffco Public School fees by participating in our Scrip Fundraising Program.  Purchase electronic gift cards through Scrip for your everyday purchases, or to give as gifts to friends, family, teachers, school staff and co-workers.

As a reminder, there have been some great changes to the Scrip program that make it easier for you to earn rebates to apply towards any school fees (not just for Outdoor Lab)! The changes include:

Throughout the year, Scrip runs special bonus and promo offers.  Ensure you are signed-up to received program updates directly from Scrip to stay on top of all bonus and promo opportunities!  You can update your account to receive email updates from Scrip.

If you want a reimbursement, the process will be to submit a check request form (available on Memberhub or in the financial office) for reimbursement to you directly. You will need to provide original receipts for the school fees. Return the form to the main office at Leawood. We ask for a 2-3week turnaround time to mail out the checks. More information can be found on Memberhub or by emailing leawoodloot@gmail.com.

KingSoopers Community Rewards

Another great way to earn rebates to apply towards your child's Jeffco Public School fees is by designating Leawood PTSA as the recipient of your King Soopers Community Rewards.  These rewards are loaded to your Scrip account and just like Scrip rewards, they are split 50/50 between Leawood PTSA and your rebate account.  It is easy to setup:

the Classrooms need YOU!

If you are interested in being a "room parent" for your student's class, please contact kelly.rodak@jeffco.k12.co.us

Duties include recruiting volunteers for classroom support as needed, overseeing holiday parties and acting as a liaison for PTSA/Accountability.

ALSO - we are in the process setting up a convenient way to share parent contact info with anybody interested for each grade level. Please be on the lookout for more information and how to participate (and the sign-ups for holiday parties) in your teacher's weekly newsletter sometime this month.

Accountability Committee

November 4th at 5:00 pm

Please join us for our next Accountability meeting! We will be meeting via Zoom (link to be sent out the Monday prior), and we will be discussing how remote learning is going, feedback from those who attend, and also other important things going on in the district.

We hope to "see" you there!

Contact Melissa Kohn (mekohn4@gmail.com) with any questions.

OCTOBER WALL OF PRIDE

The Wall of Pride is Leawood’s way of acknowledging our responsible students. These good citizens are chosen by their teachers for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility and Safety. Students can be recognized for any of these traits during any month of the year, with the expectation that each student is recognized at least one time. These students will have their picture taken and will eat lunch with Mrs. Shehan during the monthly Wall of Pride lunch.
