FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Leawood Families,
It is hard to believe that February is already here. The year is going by so quickly. Many of you have asked, where are you going? When my time began at the end of August, I had recently retired in May of 2022 from 28 years in education serving in various roles. It has been a joy being back at Leawood as an interim principal, as it was one of my favorite jobs, and I have loved working with the staff, students and community this year. I will continue to serve as your interim principal till the end of May. In the meantime, Kevin Kolasa, the principal beginning in July, and I will continue to plan and work together to prepare for the 2023-2024 school year.
We will continue to communicate upcoming events via our once a month newsletter from the office, teachers and various staff members at Leawood. Please join us for our next PTSA meeting on Wednesday, February 8th beginning at 6:00 pm on Google Meets. Our Parents in Education Accountability committee, called PIE, will be meeting via Google at the end of the month on February 22nd at 6PM as well. We will send the virtual link to all families right after school on both dates.
Conferences this year are held on Wednesday and Thursday, February 15 and 16. Both days will be early release days at 1:15pm. It is so exciting to see the growth that our students have made so far this year! Teachers are excited to meet with parents and share how the school year has been going since we returned in January. Please remember that we will have no school on Friday, February 17th for a teacher learning day and Monday, February 20th in honor of Presidents' Day. Enjoy your four day weekend!
