Please keep children with any symptoms of illness home.

Please make sure your child brings a mask to school everyday!

We are in need of extra clothing when students have spills or accidents. Please send in gently used sweats, long sleeved shirts and socks in any size.  Packages of new underwear would be appreciated as well.

District Approved Excused Absences

Just a reminder: If your child is going to be late or absent, please call the attendance line at 303-982-7813. You will also need to give a reason as to why your student is going to be out or late. If no reason is given, your student will be marked unexcused. As much as we would love to, we cannot excuse an absence for family fun time, or birthdays.

Dear Leawood Families,

I would like to thank you all for your help and support throughout my Eagle Scout project. With the donations I acquired from this community, I was able to purchase all the necessary tools, equipment, and supplies to bring the game of gagaball to Leawood. My planning and first steps took place back in late May, where I started planning with Mrs. Shehan and Mrs. Russell on how to move forward. With the help of my dad, we designed blueprints for the walls and gate, and made a mockup of the pit for reference. These months consisted of lots of late nights, paperwork, and stress about whether or not I would be able to raise all the necessary funds. But, as always, this community came through and made my lifelong dream much closer to being a reality. I was able to purchase the materials in late September. That week was then spent finishing logistics and making one of the walls for the pit as reference, before having fellow scouts come over and help me assemble the rest of the walls. A week and a half later, we were able to put the pit together and now, as they say, the rest is history. This award has been a goal of mine ever since I joined scouts in first grade. Leawood has been the home of my growth and development for years. Beyond just being a school, it was a place for my cub scout pack to meet, where this journey began. Furthermore, this community has been incredible to me, from my school friends, to the people my parents left me with when they were busy.  You have all helped me grow into the person I am today, and for that, I am truly thankful. My mom always told me that it takes a village to raise a child, and well, Leawood has absolutely been my village.  So again, thank you, to those who donated, those who supported me, and those who have or will play in the gagaball pit. Thank you Leawood, you are the reason I am where I am today.

Sincerely,

Oliver Orton

Thank you Leawood families for participating in our Give Back Event to raise funds for our South Area Band & Orchestra program. The proceeds help repair instruments and buy new ones. We were able to raise $386.74. Chili's agreement was to give back 10% of their sales, but they decided to bump it to 15% after we told them some of our "to go" orders were not given the credit. They regret any inconvenience they caused our families. We appreciate their partnership.
