POP TOPS

5th grade will once again start collecting pop tops. All the pop tops are given to the Ronald McDonald House to help support their monthly overhead expenses. Please start a jar to collect them in, and I will let you know when to start sending them into school. Thank you, Mrs. Story

From Mrs Brandon - Music Teacher

Hello Families. Students loved performing the Nutcracker in class during December. We studied the form, music, and story of The Nutcracker for this virtual performance! The classes who work with me are: Burnham & Half Stelmach, Cummings, Doherty, Bole & Half Boogert's 3rd, Henkes and Half Boogert's 4th, and Cable

From the Library

Before winter break, we sent overdue library book notices home in Friday Folders.   If your student cannot find a book, please let me know and we will add a fine to your Jeffco account.  Once the fine is added, your student will be able to resume checking out books.  Thank you!

A Great Big THANK YOU to all our wonderful parents who sent in food, craft supplies and games for our Holiday Parties.  Here are a few pictures of the fun we had.

Middle of the Year Testing Data:  Next Steps

In December, your student took benchmark assessments to check in on their growth and mastery.  In the next few weeks, the reports from those tests will be coming home in Friday folders with resources and videos for each grade.

Acadience shows students foundational reading skills mastery in several areas for grades kindergarten through third.  Each grade has different subtests that are taken three different times per year - fall, winter, and spring.  The tests are different during each period and include text or passages that your child has never seen before.   Our district has put together a document Understanding Acadience Reading for Families to give families more information and resources for what they can do at home.

All grades kindergarten through fifth grade complete MAP growth testing in reading and math.  MAP shows students’ comprehension and application of knowledge, to learn more about the test here. The reports that come home will show students areas of strength and challenge.  The reports also show how students are growing over time.  For more information about MAP family reports here is a short article about reading the Family Report.

If you have additional questions after the reports come home feel free to reach out to classroom teachers or me, Jamie Kelley, the instructional coach at jakelley@jeffco.k12.co.us
