TWO SCHOOL DAYS CONVERTED TO NON-STUDENT CONTACT DAYS

At a recent Board meeting, the Board approved converting two student-contact days to non-student contact days on the 2021-22 calendar. These non-student contact days will take place on March 28, 2022 and April 22, 2022.

Due largely to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeffco Public Schools has experienced nearly 9,000 educator absences so far in the 2021-22 school year, which have been unable to be filled by paid substitutes/guest teachers. Teacher and school-based staff workload has been tremendous this year. Our educators have consistently covered or combined each other’s classes, due to various absences in order to support in-person learning for our students.

March 28 and April 22 will be used by educators to work on planning, assessing student work, data collection and analysis, and other tasks relevant to their positions that benefit student learning. Classified staff will report to work on these days.

This additional planning time for our teachers and school-based educators is important because these opportunities have been severely limited during this school year. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to the positive impact of this planning time on our students’ learning experiences.
