January From Our Teachers

Leawood Elementary School

Here are suggestions to help your child to be successful especially staying remote/virtual until 1/19/21

Make sure they attend all classes, including small group sessions, and show up on time with the camera on so they can be seen and heard.

Talk to your child so they know you are interested in their learning. Find time to talk about their day.

Keep in touch with the school and know important dates that are available for you to be involved.

Encourage your child to be active mentally and physically beyond the computer. Practice doing for others.

Explore new opportunities that promote communication, collaboration, creativity. Cards, board games, drawing, walks, exercise together, read, etc

POP TOPS

5th grade will once again start collecting pop tops after the first of the year. It might look a little different with class contests, but the result will be the same: doing something good for the community. All the pop tops are given to the Ronald McDonald House to help support their monthly overhead expenses. During this holiday season, please start a jar to collect them in, and I will let you know when to start sending them into school. Thank you, Mrs. Story

Leawood Giving Tree

Every year we are grateful for the generosity of our Leawood community!  Thank you to everyone who donated gift cards and wish list items to our Giving Tree.  This year especially, our families are so appreciative of this extra help. Your contributions have lifted the spirits of many people this holiday season!

If you have continued needs we can support, please complete this confidential form and let us know.  Leawood Family Support Form

From Ms T - Music Teacher

Hello Families. The 4th and 5th grade classes worked very hard to produce joyful music and videos for your enjoyment.

There are intro videos from each team to introduce the video and song they worked on. There are also lyrics so you can sing along! We hope you enjoy!

From Mrs Wheeler - Art Teacher

Thanks to everyone who took the time to make some holiday cards for added cheer.  We dropped these off at a nursing home and they were so very grateful. You brought complete strangers a smile and some holiday happiness.
