NEW FAMILIES
There are three steps that will need to be completed when enrolling your student to Leawood Elementary.
Complete a Jeffco Connect account
Complete EnrollJeffco
If Leawood is your home school, bring your documentation in during the week of December 16-19th.
If you have choice enrolled to Leawood, wait to see if you are made an offer before bringing in your documentation. Offers will be made at the end of January.
CURRENT Jeffco K-12 Students
The first step to this process is EnrollJeffco. All returning students will use EnrollJeffco for the upcoming school year to indicate where they will be attending school in August. 5th grade families need to complete this process as well to indicate which middle school you will be attending. If Leawood was NOT your home school, you will need to CHOICE enroll at Ken Caryl.
The second step to this process is Jeffco Connect. In July/August, you will still need to register your student(s) through Jeffco Connect, making sure your contact information is updated, pay fees, and sign off on agreements (Code of Conduct, Media Releases, and other OPT out agreements with your digital signature).
Openings in Half Day Preschool:
For any families interested in the Leawood Preschool Classes for 3 and 4 year old, we do have openings now in the Half Day Classes. The Morning Class with Mrs. Hetterscheidt and Mrs. Rosenthal runs 8:45am -11:45am, the Afternoon Class runs 12:45pm - 3:45pm. If you have any questions about enrollment and registration you may contact our enrollment secretary Leah Lefevre. Enrollment packets are available in the office along with applications for the Colorado Preschool Program for anyone interested in applying for tuition assistance.
From the Health Room
If you are in need of low-cost immunizations for children and teens, see the attachment below for dates, places and phone numbers for more information.
Free & Reduced applications for Preschool
Did you know that our preschool families are also welcome to complete a Free & Reduced application? Although it will not cover your tuition fees, if approved, this will provide your student with breakfast or lunch at no cost. Breakfast and lunch is available for all our preschool families, but we ask half day families wishing to stay longer or come earlier for lunch, a parent must be with them.
From the Financial Office
Please don't forget to go login to Jeffco Connect and verify that all of your student's fees have been paid. This year Food & Nutrition Services had some delays approving Free & Reduced applications. If you completed the application for Free & Reduced and your student’s fees have not been waived, please contact Food & Nutrition Services at 303-982-6748. Since the district changed to a School Based Budget, we have to pay all of our fees directly out of our school budget. Keep in mind that all of our field trips are again paid online this year. We will be adding the fees to your student as the date of the field trip approaches. While you are in Jeffco Connect, please verify your personal information and make sure we have updated phone numbers and email addresses. In addition, please be sure to add additional emergency contacts other than just parents listed just in case we are unable to reach a guardian. If you need assistance with fees, feel free to contact Mrs. Russell at 303-982-7860 ext. #5. If you would like to apply for Free & Reduced, here is the link to the application.
AFTER HOURS SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
It’s that time of year again when many before or after school activities and clubs begin. If you are dropping off or picking your child up from one of these, please keep in mind that there will be no access to the building before 8:30am or after 4:00pm. Please make arrangements with the teacher or activity coordinator as to where you will drop/pick your child up.
UPDATES FROM THE CAFETERIA
Information regarding personal checks
Chef Diann will no longer be able to separate a parent’s personal check for lunches between two siblings. You will have to submit two separate checks for each of their accounts. Also, she cannot transfer money from one siblings account to another’s. You can add money to your student’s lunch account online at Food and Nutrition Services.
