NOVEMBER From Our Teachers
Leawood Elementary School
Supports from Leawood Staff, PTSA, and Community
We hear more and more from parents requesting support with social-emotional and behavioral issues with their children. We are thankful at Leawood to have 2 social workers, Mrs Magri and Miss Bushmann. They have created this amazing website to support our families. Check it out below:
Holiday Support
If your family is experiencing financial hardship and would benefit from some support this holiday season, please complete the following interest form to let us know how we can help you. We offer Thanksgiving food boxes put together by our staff and PTSA, as well as different options to help your family during the December holiday season. All information that you submit is confidential, and can only be accessed by our school social workers so that they can organize and provide these supports. A Message from Band and Orchestra!
It’s time for our first Columbine Area Instrumental concert for the 2019-20 school year! Area music shirts have been ordered and will be sent home with your students this week. Our concert date is Thursday November 7. Students should be dressed in their area music shirts with black pants/skirt and black shoes. Students should arrive at 5:30pm in the Columbine HS Gym. Our performance begins at 6pm and we will be wrapped up by 6:30.
Contact Mr. Whaylen with any questions you may have. All are welcome to come see how much our young musicians have learned in the first two months of learning their instruments.

Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success! Thank you to all of the students, parents, grandparents, and community members who visited our book fair. We will be able to add over 100 new titles to our collection with this year’s proceeds! I was also able to order bean bags and child sized seating from Scholastic to begin our library uplift.
Fifth Grade Parents:
Each month, we focus on a new Digital Citizenship skill. October’s focus was Cyberbullying. Please visit our 1:1 Chromebook Website to learn about these topics and see family ideas for home discussion.
