From the Principal

Dear Leawood Families

Thank you so much for attending your scheduled parent/teacher conference time.  Teachers work hard to ensure that conferences provide you with valuable insight into your child’s progress at school. It is always our goal to have 100% of our parents attend, but we know sometimes things come up.  We encourage you to try to reschedule a time, even if it’s just a phone conference. We also appreciate the delicious meals provided for our teachers during the long evenings of conferences. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Our Jeffco Columbine, Dakota Ridge area Chili's night was a huge success for our Band and Orchestra fund raiser. Thank you to everyone that attended to support our music programs. Also, thank you to Chili's Southwest Plaza for supporting our band and orchestra programs.

Thanks to PTSA, our room parents, and other volunteers who made our Halloween Celebration a huge success.  We had extra Watch Dog Dad's and Marvelous Mom's at school on Halloween which made for an extra safe day! It was so exciting to walk the halls and parade outside as well as having all of our visitors back in the building to be a part of the Halloween fun. There were so many creative costumes!

Our 13th annual Veterans Day Celebration will be held on Friday, November 11thOur assembly will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the gymnasium. Students are making cards for our veterans during the next few weeks. If you know a veteran and would like to share, we will have cards outside for you to pick up after school on November 11th.

Attached are the video links to October's PTSA and Accountability/Partners in Education meetings. Our next Accountability meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 30th from 6:00-8:00 pm virtually through TEAMS and PTSA this month is Wednesday, November 16th from 6:30-8:00pm on TEAMS as well. Look for more information on the PTSA & Accountability Page linked below.

Remember our Thanksgiving break is November 21st to the 25th! We will see everyone back at school on Monday, November 28th.

Makerspace Household Donations Needed

Our Makerspace Creative Corner uses a lot of household items for kids to be creative with, and we go through them quickly!  We appreciate any donations of the following items:

You can put all items in any type of bag and we will separate them.  Thank You!

We have so many things to be thankful for as the Thanksgiving holidays approach. Leawood is a great place because of the families and staff who continue to generously care for and willingly give so much of themselves to us!  I am continually reminded of all the blessings for which I am grateful. These include: the students, who come to school prepared to do their best each day; the parents, who make those home sacrifices that prepare our students for learning; the teachers, who dedicate time and energy to excellent instruction and to the creation of a positive learning environment; the staff, who handle all those small details that keep the school running smoothly for students and teachers; and the greater Leawood community that continues to support the needs of our children.  May you find time to reflect on all you are thankful for and make time to spend with those you love.

Thanks for all you do for our community of learners!! Leawood is an exciting place to Discover, Inspire, and Grow... Together!

Fondly,

Mrs. Hoefner
