We’re thrilled to highlight three of our Leawood student athletes, Kenlea and Kaileia McBride, and Isabelle Martin.
If your child has had a big accomplishment, please email it to Leah.Lefevre@jeffco.k12.co.us. We would love to share it with the community!
Kenlea (2nd Grade) is in her second year of wrestling and has already made a name for herself. She won 1st place in her bracket, pinning her final opponent from Englewood in just 50 seconds! Kenlea faced off against boys in both of her matches, securing a strong 20-12 victory in her first match against Arapahoe.
Kaileia (Kinder) in her first year of wrestling, showed incredible resilience. Although she was nervous in her first match, Kaileia came back strong in her second, winning 6-0 against an opponent from Bailey and securing a 2nd place finish in her bracket. Like Kenela, Kaileia also wrestled boys in both of her matches.
Both Kenlea and Kaileia are part of the Columbine Youth Wrestling program, where they compete alongside 6 other girls in a sport traditionally dominated by boys. Outside of wrestling, both girls are also active participants in the Leawood Cheer program, softball, soccer and basketball.
Isabelle Martin (4th Grade) Isabelle Martin has been working since 2019 on becoming a certified 1st degree black belt with Exclusive Martial Arts. On Dec 21st she graduates and receives her black belt. Well done Miss Martin.
