Psst! We're moving!
Jiang Chuan walked into the living room, picked up a water bottle, and tilted his head to drink.
Whether it was because Qin Tang and Jiang Chuan were hiding their relationship well or because others thought it was impossible, except for Lü An and Cao Yan noticing something, no one else realized the relationship between the two.
Seeing them stubbornly opposing each other again, everyone stayed silent.
Xiaocheng came over leading the German Shepherd and asked with a smile: “Brother, what’s its name?”
The German Shepherd stood beside Qin Tang, tall and majestic.
Qin Tang reached out to touch it, reminded of the police dog her father once kept. She turned her head and looked at Jiang Chuan.
Jiang Chuan: “Heihu (Black Tiger).”
Xiaocheng smiled: “What a cool name!”
Jiang Chuan walked over, bent down to pet Heihu, and said to Qin Tang: “Try calling it.”
Heihu was among the best police dogs and used to be with their team. This time, Cao Sheng arranged for him to bring it here. With recent unrest expected at this ordinary Yi Station, having Heihu around would make him and Cao Yan more alert to any nighttime disturbances.
Qin Tang quietly looked at him, called out “Heihu,” raised her right hand with fingers together, and pressed her palm downward at a ninety-degree angle. Heihu immediately lay down by her feet.
Jiang Chuan looked at her in surprise. Qin Tang then made a “stand” gesture, and Heihu immediately stood up.
Xiaocheng was dumbfounded: “Sister Qin Tang, you’re amazing!”
Aqi and Xiaobai saw this and found it magical, both saying they wanted to learn.
Qin Tang taught them. Whether it was due to their incorrect gestures or Heihu not obeying, it didn’t follow their commands.
Jiang Chuan faintly curved his lips and said: “Qin Tang, come here for a moment.”
Jiang Chuan walked towards the corner by the staircase. Qin Tang glanced at him and followed. Xiaocheng shouted from behind: “It’s time to eat!”
Jiang Chuan didn’t look back.
They walked to the corner and went upstairs. Jiang Chuan stood on the second-floor corridor, pointing his chin towards her door: “Go inside.”
Seeing no one in the yard, Qin Tang walked over and opened the door.
As soon as they entered, Jiang Chuan grabbed her hand, a smile on his lips: “How did you know how to do that?”
Qin Tang said: “My father kept a retired police dog named Buri. Buri grew up with me, but when I grew up, it was already too old and passed away a few years ago.”
She lowered her head.
Jiang Chuan patted her head and said: “If you like, I’ll get you one later.”
Jiang Chuan liked dogs and didn’t expect her to like them too, “Hmm?”
Qin Tang nodded: “Okay.”
She looked up and asked: “Did you specially bring Heihu back?”
“Mm.”
“For me?”
Jiang Chuan originally planned to bring back the two retired police dogs from the transport company. Now that Qin Tang was here, he asked Cao Sheng for Heihu. Heihu was young, healthy, and exceptionally sharp.
He said: “For Yi Station.”
Qin Tang pursed her lips, “Oh.”
Downstairs, Xiaocheng shouted loudly: “Brother, it’s time to eat!”
Jiang Chuan squeezed her hand, “Let’s eat first, then I’ll take you there after the meal.”
Qin Tang hugged him from behind, gently rubbing her head against him, “Tell me first, is the case you’re investigating related to Jiang Kun?”
Jiang Chuan turned around, his gaze deep.
Qin Tang said: “That day at the exhibition center, I noticed that Lu Sha’s relationship with Jiang Kun wasn’t as simple as it seemed on the surface. They actually know each other well but pretended otherwise. Perhaps it’s a woman’s intuition, but I feel that Lu Sha’s attitude towards Jiang Kun isn’t as natural as it is with other buyers; it seems deliberate.”
Jiang Chuan had mentioned that Lu Sha was related to the case.
Jiang Kun had substantial financial power and high prestige here. If the case really involved him, it wouldn’t be simple.
Jiang Chuan frowned. The less she knew about this case, the safer she would be.
At this point, it probably couldn’t be hidden anymore.
He turned around, held her shoulders, bent down to meet her eyes, and solemnly instructed: “Listen, if you see Jiang Kun or the people around him in the future, act as if you know nothing. Understand?”
This was the first time Qin Tang saw him so serious. She nodded: “Mm.”
They went downstairs to eat.
Lü An and Cao Yan also returned.
After the meal, Jiang Chuan and Cao Yan went out. Before leaving, Jiang Chuan told Qin Tang to wait for him at Yi Station.
At 2:30 PM, Qin Tang changed her clothes and put on makeup. Jiang Chuan returned.
She walked towards him: “Can we go now?”
Jiang Chuan looked at the Mercedes-Benz parked in the yard, “What’s going on?”
Qin Tang said: “It’s a car sent from over there to pick me up.”
She walked over and told the driver: “You can go back. My friend will take me there.”
The driver looked up at her and then at the tall Jiang Chuan standing nearby. A flicker of light appeared in his eyes, “Wouldn’t that be inappropriate? The boss specifically instructed me not to neglect Miss Qin.”
Qin Tang remained expressionless: “Just say it’s my decision.”
She didn’t say anything more and walked towards Jiang Chuan: “Let’s go.”
Jiang Chuan slowly withdrew his gaze, opened the car door: “Get in.”
Qin Tang adjusted her skirt, stepped in with her high heels, and Jiang Chuan supported her lower back.
The black Mercedes-Benz watched Qin Tang get into the car. The driver gritted his teeth, reversed, and drove away.
Jiang Chuan inserted the key, turned to look at her. She had dressed up especially today, looking more dazzling than usual. Qin Tang adjusted her skirt and calmly looked at him: “Driver, let’s go.”
Jiang Chuan chuckled and started the engine.
After driving out of Yi Station, Jiang Chuan pulled the car over to the side of the road. Qin Tang turned her head in confusion: “What’s wrong?”
Jiang Chuan grabbed her chin and leaned down to kiss her.
Qin Tang pushed against his chest—her lipstick was going to get smudged…
Finally, Jiang Chuan wiped her lips with his thumb. His rough fingertip brushed against them, and Qin Tang moved slightly, raising her eyes to look at him.
They stared at each other for a few seconds before Jiang Chuan shifted his gaze, focused on the road ahead, and drove off again.
Qin Tang turned her head and stared at him.
Jiang Chuan finally glanced back at her and smiled: “Am I that good-looking?”
Qin Tang didn’t move: “Not bad.”
Jiang Chuan smiled faintly: “I probably won’t be able to go inside later, so I’ll wait for you outside. Be careful, and call me if anything happens.”
They had investigated, and this auction seemed normal. The invited buyers were wealthy individuals from all over the country. Qin Tang wouldn’t be in any danger inside. Once the auction began, most of the attention would be drawn away, giving them the perfect opportunity to sneak in and investigate.
Upon arriving at the third floor of the hotel,
Jiang Chuan escorted her to the entrance of the auction hall. Qin Tang walked over and handed her invitation to the staff.
She stood at the entrance and looked back at him.
Jiang Chuan gave a faint smile and said: “Go ahead.”
Qin Tang squeezed her handbag and gazed at him quietly for a few seconds. Jiang Chuan gave her a reassuring look.
After watching her walk in, Jiang Chuan returned to the underground parking lot and waited in the car for an hour until the auction began. Cao Yan sent him a message: “Jiang Kun didn’t attend the auction. We might have been played.”
Jiang Chuan frowned. How could that be?
Jiang Kun had already arrived at the hotel at noon, and his name was on the list.
Zhao Qianhe also came in the afternoon.
It was impossible for there to be no action at all.
Cao Yan had been with a female colleague from the police force since noon, disguised and checked into a room at this hotel.
He replied: “Is he still in the hotel?”
Cao Yan called directly: “Yes, I’ve been keeping an eye on him.”
Jiang Chuan’s lips tightened into a straight line. Jiang Kun rarely changed his plans because of police actions, which would only raise suspicion unless something significant happened today. He asked: “Has anyone disappeared from his side?”
Cao Yan paused for a moment and suddenly cursed: “Shit! Zhao Feng is gone.”
“When did he leave?”
“About ten minutes ago.”
Jiang Chuan opened the car door and quickly headed toward the elevator: “You keep an eye on Jiang Kun. I’ll go find him.”
