Psst! We're moving!
What a shocking statement.
Sheng Li stared at Yu Chi in astonishment, completely unprepared for him to say something like that. Then again, perhaps she wasn’t entirely surprised—she had repeatedly joked about “keeping a young lover,” and if he had truly been able to endure it silently, that wouldn’t have been his style.
After all, when she demanded he pay her millions, this eighteen-year-old boy didn’t hesitate to agree.
This person carried the soul of a wolf within him—facing strength with strength, and when pushed too far, capable of biting back.
Their eyes locked.
Yu Chi’s gaze remained icy, while Sheng Li’s suddenly lit up with mischief. “So… does this mean you agree?”
Yu Chi: “….”
Agree to what devilish nonsense!
Suddenly, there was a loud clattering sound as Yuan Yuan accidentally knocked over a water cup. But she paid no attention to it, scrambling to her feet and rushing to the door. Peering cautiously left and right, she confirmed no one was outside before turning back, visibly shaken. “Please, please be more careful about where you discuss these kinds of transactions! What if someone overhears? Sister Rong will kill me!”
“I’m not a public figure—what harm could it do to me?” Yu Chi replied coldly, still staring at Sheng Li. He wasn’t sure whether she was serious or just, as she claimed, trying to entertain herself out of boredom on set.
He had the misfortune of being caught in the crosshairs of her amusement?
Sheng Li put down her phone, leaned back with her arms crossed, and scanned Yu Chi from head to toe. “I do genuinely like your type of guy—I’m talking about your looks, of course. As for your personality…” She paused critically. “It’s tolerable, but you’d be better if you were a bit more obedient.”
Yu Chi responded with a derisive snort.
Yuan Yuan was on the verge of collapse. Was this really happening?
If it was, how was she supposed to stop it?!
Fortunately, the assistant director arrived to rescue her—and interrupt whatever improper negotiation was taking place.
Director Liu wanted Sheng Li to come over and discuss the afternoon and evening scenes.
The assistant director delivered the message and left. Sheng Li picked up her script and stood up. Leaning down close to Yu Chi, her breath brushed against his ear as she whispered softly, “Let’s discuss this again when you’re an adult.”
Yu Chi: “….”
He froze, heat rising to his ears.
Who the hell wanted to discuss anything with her? He’d have to be insane to revisit this topic!

At ten o’clock in the evening, Sheng Li wrapped up her day’s work.
After changing clothes and removing her makeup, Sheng Li emerged and asked Yuan Yuan, “Where’s Yu Chi?”
Yuan Yuan pointed ahead. “There.”
The large sunshade umbrellas used during the day had already been taken down, leaving only the tables and chairs in place. Since someone stayed on night duty at the production site, some items weren’t packed away, saving time for the next day. Yu Chi sat on one of the lounge chairs, legs stretched out casually, looking down at his phone. The screen illuminated his handsome face, and his long, fair fingers swiped quickly across it.
At first, Sheng Li thought he was playing a game. Approaching him, she peered over to take a glance.
She only managed a quick look because Yu Chi noticed her presence and immediately flipped his phone over.
Sheng Li hesitated. “Are you editing videos?”
If she hadn’t seen incorrectly.
“Yes,” Yu Chi admitted straightforwardly. Rising to his feet, he slipped his phone into his pocket and looked down at her. “Since you don’t need me to do anything, yet I have to stay here every day, can I at least find something to occupy myself with? Or is that not allowed?”
Sheng Li raised an eyebrow. “Of course it’s allowed.”
Yu Chi: “Then can I bring my laptop?”
Sheng Li: “What do you need a laptop for?”
“Work. Editing videos for clients.” Yu Chi didn’t want to explain too much, but being idle all day was frustrating. Turning around, he grabbed the cap from the small table and pulled it onto his head. The shadow cast by the brim split his face into light and dark halves, his eyes hidden in the shadows. “If you disapprove, then forget it.”
Sheng Li stared directly at him, raising an eyebrow. “Why would I disapprove? I find you increasingly agreeable.”
Yu Chi tugged the brim lower, avoiding her gaze. “Can I leave now?”
“Do you want to move in?” Sheng Li suddenly asked.
“No.”
Sheng Li continued her relentless teasing. “I can’t show favoritism, you know. Yuan Yuan eats well, sleeps well, and lives comfortably under my care. Since you’re also my assistant, you should receive the same treatment.”
Yu Chi glanced at Yuan Yuan and said indifferently, “I see.”
Yuan Yuan: “????”
“I don’t need that kind of treatment.” Yu Chi turned and strode away, tossing a single word over his shoulder. “Leaving.”
A few seconds later, Yuan Yuan pointed at herself, wide-eyed. “Was he just implying I’m fat?”
Sheng Li scrutinized Yuan Yuan. “Hmm, you’ve been eating quite a lot lately. Let’s weigh you when we get back. If you’re over 130 pounds, you’ll start running five kilometers every night to lose weight. When you first started working as my assistant, you were slim and delicate. How did you end up so round?”
Yuan Yuan: “….”
Food was such a joy! She didn’t want to diet—it was exhausting!

Late at night, Sheng Li applied a sheet mask and reclined on the bed, opening the movie Flower Slaughter .
The film had been a box office hit in its year, considered a classic in the wuxia genre. She had watched it three times back then but hadn’t revisited it in four years. While she vaguely remembered the plot, the faces of the characters had grown fuzzy. She recalled the young male lead appearing around the twenty-minute mark, but tonight wasn’t the best time to rewatch the movie—she was already feeling sleepy. Skipping ahead to the twenty-minute mark and waiting another five or six minutes, she finally spotted the young protagonist.
The film quality was clear, and the young actor had many close-ups. In just over a minute, several frames were tight shots. Unlike the pixelated still image she had seen earlier, Sheng Li almost instantly recognized that the young actor was indeed Yu Chi.
She pressed pause.
On the screen, twelve- or thirteen-year-old Yu Chi stood with his hands clenched into fists at his sides. His red-rimmed eyes overflowed with complex emotions—grief, anger, hatred—almost leaping off the screen.
No wonder even Wei Cheng, the acclaimed Actor of the Year, praised him for his performance—it truly was exceptional.
His acting far surpassed her own skills at fourteen.
For reasons she couldn’t explain, by the time Sheng Li realized what she was doing, she had already sent a screenshot to Yu Chi.
They had exchanged WeChat contacts during dinner.
In the shabby hotel room, Yu Chi had just finished showering and roughly dried his hair before sitting at the small desk to edit videos. Such places were typically occupied by extras from out of town—the rooms were cheap, but the soundproofing was poor, so he wore headphones to block out the noise.
After a while, his phone lit up.
He glanced at it.
It was already past midnight.
——Sheng Li sent you a picture.
It lit up again.
He released the mouse, picked up his phone, and opened the WeChat chat.
Sheng Li: [Is this you? Don’t lie.]
Sheng Li: [It’s you.]
Yu Chi’s fingers paused slightly. Without needing to open the picture, he knew it was from Flower Slaughter . It was the movie he filmed at twelve, working alongside Wei Cheng. After all these years, he thought no one remembered it.
Flower Slaughter was a six-year-old film. There were differences between his appearance at twelve and eighteen, but classmates who recognized him from his days as an extra on set occasionally sent him screenshots, saying, “This kid looks a bit like you.”
Moreover, Wei Cheng seemed to have forgotten him as well.
He didn’t know why Sheng Li had suddenly dug this up, nor how she could be so certain to claim it was him.
Leaning back in his chair, Yu Chi’s damp black hair glistened under the light, his slender neckline clean and striking. He closed his eyes briefly, his Adam’s apple moving with his breath. After a while, he picked up his phone.
Yu Chi: [It’s me.]
He assumed the woman would tease him a little more or add another topic to mock him.
Seconds later, her messages started pouring in—
Sheng Li: [I was wrong to say you could only play corpses.]
Sheng Li: [But I wasn’t entirely wrong either. My instincts are sharp—I’ve discovered a potential star.]
Sheng Li: [Do you still want to act? Would you like me to give you resources?]
For reasons unknown, Sheng Li felt strangely excited and rapidly typed out a flurry of messages.
She had initially expected Yu Chi to deny it.
To her surprise, he admitted it without hesitation.
She waited several minutes, but he didn’t reply.
This little brat dared to ignore her so coldly.
Sheng Li immediately called him via voice chat, waiting briefly before he hung up on her.
A few seconds later—
Yu Chi: [Not interested in chatting.]
Sheng Li: [Hmm? Does chatting come with a separate price?]
Yu Chi: […]
