Psst! We're moving!
“Hmm…”
Where am I?
Yewon slowly opened her eyelids and glanced around.
‘A hospital?’
Something felt off. She tried retracing her memories.
—’I can’t do that! This baby is mine—I’ve carried them in my belly. Absolutely not!’
She had shouted those words at Seunghyun before collapsing.
‘Ah!’
Her hands quickly moved to check her belly.
Thankfully, everything was still there.
As Yewon let out a sigh of relief and attempted to sit up, she noticed Seunghyun lying asleep on the bed next to her.
The clock on the wall indicated it was late at night.
When she straightened herself to sit upright, Seunghyun’s face came fully into view.
‘Why… Why did you come back to complicate things again?’
Yewon tried hard to suppress the emotions welling up inside her.
But it wasn’t easy. She had missed him so much.
Once again, tears welled up in her eyes.
‘Kim Yewon, you’re such a fool.’
Even hating him with all her might wouldn’t suffice, yet here she was.
She didn’t want to be a pitiful mother to Bada.
Biting her lip tightly, she gazed at Seunghyun’s sleeping face.
At that moment, Seunghyun suddenly opened his eyes wide, startled to see Yewon awake as he quickly sat up.
“You’re awake? Are you feeling unwell anywhere?”
“No, I’m fine.”
This worried expression from Seunghyun felt strange to her.
He must have noticed her teary eyes.
Shaking her head, Yewon wiped away her tears with her sleeve.
“The baby’s okay too, right?”
“You and Bada are both healthy.”
“What a relief.”
Yewon exhaled deeply and leaned back against the headboard.
Shortly after, the doctor who visited earlier returned to check on her condition.
Just as Seunghyun had said, rest was all she needed.
After the doctor left, the two were alone in the room once more, and their conversation resumed.
“Yewon. There’s something I absolutely had to tell you—that’s why I came.”
“What…”
“I love you.”
“What… did you just say?”
Seunghyun’s eyes brimmed with sincerity, leaving no doubt about the truth of his words.
Yewon couldn’t respond; she couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
“I never properly knew how to give love because I’d never really received it. Even though I’ve liked you since long ago, I was too foolish to express it.”
Seunghyun smiled bitterly.
“What did you just say?”
Despite hearing it clearly, Yewon still couldn’t shake the thought that her ears were deceiving her.
She asked him to repeat himself multiple times, but Seunghyun showed no signs of annoyance.
He reached out and firmly held her hand.
“I love you. From the beginning until now—it’s always been you.”
“Are you serious…?”
“Yes. I saw the note you wrote under the painting in your studio.”
Yewon remembered the day she penned that letter.
Unable to voice her feelings for Seunghyun to anyone, she had scribbled them onto the blank canvas.
It was her way of easing the suffocating ache in her heart.
She had planned to erase it later but forgot when Seunghyun unexpectedly returned home early that evening.
Her face flushed with embarrassment.
“I didn’t write that for you to see…”
“It was addressed to me. Who else would you show it to?”
Glaring slightly at Seunghyun, she watched him chuckle softly.
“Just to clarify—I didn’t fall for you because of that letter.”
“Then why?”
“Do you remember the evening you disappeared? You mentioned having something to say.”
“Yes.”
The memory brought a pang to Yewon’s chest.
She vividly recalled the emotions that drove her to leave the house in a rush.
Her hand pressed firmly over her aching heart.
“I was planning to propose to you. If that sudden overseas business trip hadn’t come up the week before, I would’ve done it before you left.”
“You don’t need to lie like that.”
“Why would I lie to you?”
“Is this… real?”
When Yewon asked again, Seunghyun smiled gently and nodded.
“And Yoon Se-ah has never been anything more than a friend to me.”
“Really?”
Though Seunghyun kept insisting he wasn’t lying, Yewon found herself needing constant reassurance.
“I know what rumors spread among our friends. If I’d known Se-ah thought of me that way, I wouldn’t have worked with her.”
“…”
“I’m sorry I was so oblivious to matters of the heart. That’s why I lived years without understanding my own feelings.”
Yewon marveled at how much Seunghyun had changed.
Above all, the fact that he had been preparing to propose overwhelmed her.
“And why didn’t you tell me sooner about what your mother tried to do to you?”
Seunghyun’s tone grew heavy with sincerity.
“At first, I didn’t want to ruin the good relationship between you and her. If I had realized earlier that she wasn’t someone who positively influenced you, I probably would’ve told you.”
“Then shouldn’t you have said something later?”
“By then, I only thought of us as bound by a contract. It wasn’t easy to bring up such topics.”
Yewon confessed her honest feelings, unsure how Seunghyun even found out.
“I know saying sorry won’t fix everything. But right now, that’s all I can say.”
“Why are you apologizing?”
“Because I failed to protect you. After you left, I realized I had just left you by my side without doing anything meaningful for you. Meanwhile, I took so much from you.”
“I also received a lot of help from you.”
She never imagined they’d have this kind of conversation.
It felt surreal to hear Seunghyun confess his feelings—not just hers, but mutual affection.
“Yewon.”
“Yes?”
“I promise I won’t make the same mistake again. Come back to me. Let’s go home together.”
“…”
But the words didn’t come easily.
While she desperately wanted to live together again, fear of being hurt lingered.
“Do you need time to think?”
“Yes.”
Seunghyun gave a bitter smile at her honest reply.
Though she still loved him, the reality of rebuilding trust wasn’t simple.
Now, it wasn’t just about her anymore—it was about the baby growing inside her too.
Her fear of passing on pain made her hesitate.
“I understand. I’ll wait.”
“I’m sorry…”
“Don’t say that. You waited far longer for me than I deserve. I can handle waiting even longer.”
“I won’t make you wait forever.”
“As long as you promise me one thing.”
Yewon raised an eyebrow instead of answering.
“From now on, let me accompany you to your OB-GYN appointments.”
“I go to a hospital in Busan. I want to give birth there too.”
“If that’s what you want.”
“So you’ll come down to Busan every time?”
“I plan to visit you daily starting now.”
“Seunghyun.”
“I have sins to atone for. I’ll just drop by briefly to see your face if that’s less burdensome.”
Yewon puffed up her cheeks in disapproval.
“That’s even more inconvenient.”
“Then I’ll sneak peeks and leave quietly. Is that okay?”
“Honestly… Why are you like this…”
“It’s because I love you. I don’t want to be apart anymore.”
“What? Haa, seriously…”
“I’ll ensure you never see Mother again. Don’t worry about that.”
Seunghyun addressed the very concern weighing heavily on Yewon’s mind.
She didn’t know exactly how he’d manage it, but if true, it would greatly influence her decision.
“I’ll settle things with Se-ah too. Thinking about it, it feels like I abandoned you in a thorny briar.”
Sighing deeply, Seunghyun reflected on each misstep.
Yewon carefully memorized every new facet of him.
Perhaps… just maybe…
Even if they didn’t reconcile, remembering him fondly in front of Bada would prevent future tears.
For once, she wanted to cherish the memory of being loved by him.
Though her heart leaned toward him, making a decision wasn’t easy.
‘With the baby involved, I can’t focus solely on my emotions.’
There was so much more to consider beyond love.
“My next appointment is Wednesday morning. Let me know when you’re coming, and I’ll adjust the timing.”
Despite her hesitation, allowing Seunghyun—the father—to meet the baby felt right.
“What time works best for you?”
“10 a.m. You’ll be busy with work.”
“I’ll be there.”
“What?”
Words like that had never escaped Seunghyun’s lips before—he always prioritized work above all else.
Staring at him in disbelief, Yewon blinked rapidly.
“You know me. When I say I’ll do something, I mean it.”
Confidently, Seunghyun reached out and gently stroked her hair.
“I’ve missed you so much during this time.”
His sudden confession and touch sent her heart racing as if she’d sprinted miles.
________________________________________
What seemed impossible, Seunghyun achieved.
On the fifth day, he traveled to Busan after work to see Yewon’s face before returning.
That time wasn’t very long either.
Some days, he would arrive late in the evening and urge Ye-won to go inside in less than five minutes.
[I’m almost there.]
Today, Seung-hyun sent a message that he was almost there.
[Okay.]
Remembering that he would think Ye-won had fallen asleep if there was no reply and quietly return to Seoul, she quickly replied.
“It’s too late.”
Ye-won checked the time on her phone screen and bit her lip.
It was just past 11 p.m.
Deliberately going out in front of the house to wait for Seung-hyun, she saw his car slowly approaching.
“Why are you out here?”
Seung-hyun, who got out of the car after parking, was holding a fruit basket.
It was a basket full of mangoes.
“I was listening to the sound of the night sea.”
The words ‘I was worried’ got caught in her throat, and she ended up saying something nonsensical.
“It’s dangerous to be out late at night. Listen to that from inside the house.”
“Okay.”
“Here, what you said you wanted to eat.”
A few days ago, Ye-won had mentioned in passing that she wanted to eat mangoes.
She felt grateful that Seung-hyun remembered that even in the midst of his busy schedule.
“Thank you for thinking of me.”
“No problem. It’s only natural. Then go inside. It’s too late.”
“Are you going right back today too?”
“Yeah. I have work to check on, and I thought you’d be tired.”
Ye-won hesitated for a moment at his answer and carefully parted her lips.
“There seem to be too many mangoes... How about coming in and eating some together before you go?”
Seung-hyun looked a little surprised.
Ye-won quickly added, worried that it might be a misunderstanding.
“It’s not what you think. You look very tired, Seung-hyun.”
It was only natural since he had been going back and forth between Seoul and Busan for several days, which wasn’t a short distance.
She hadn’t intended to feel this way since it was something he had said he would do, but now she felt sorry for Seung-hyun.
“It would have been nice if it wasn’t a misunderstanding.”
“Rest a little before you leave. What if you drive drowsy? It’s better to rest a bit.”
“Thank you for thinking of me.”
“Let’s go in.”
Ye-won turned away immediately because the word ‘thank you’ felt a bit ticklish.
“Give me the basket.”
“Okay.”
Seung-hyun’s large hand suddenly reached out from behind and took the basket that Ye-won was holding.
Ye-won flinched slightly as their hands brushed in the process.
“Don’t carry heavy things.”
The way her feelings fluctuated whenever she saw Seung-hyun meant that she still liked him a lot.
It was even more so after receiving his confession of love and hearing that he had no relationship with Se-ah.
Soon, Seung-hyun and Ye-won entered the house.
Moonlight, embracing the sound of the waves, which had been let in through the wide-open window while waiting for Seung-hyun, had jumped inside.
“Sit down. I’ll get the mangoes.”
Ye-won turned her head quickly to block the strange feelings that were about to arise.
She was about to take the mangoes out of the basket and go to the kitchen, but Seung-hyun blocked Ye-won’s way.
“You sit down. I’ll do it.”
“But you’re a guest...”
“I didn’t come in here to be treated like a guest, so go sit down.”
“Still...”
“What if you get hurt? Pregnant women are told to drink even a glass of water carefully. That means you should be careful about everything.”
He took the ripe yellow mangoes that Ye-won was holding.
Ye-won knew very well that Seung-hyun wouldn’t budge no matter how much she insisted on doing it herself.
“Then please.”
“Okay.”
This time, Ye-won headed to the sofa.
She had come at Seung-hyun’s insistence, but it felt very strange to see someone other than herself moving around in her house.
Seung-hyun, who had rolled up his shirt sleeves, took out a knife and began to cut the mangoes skillfully.
His arm muscles stood out every time he moved his hand.
‘Has he been working out more?’
Ye-won couldn’t take her eyes off his more toned arms.
Ye-won, who felt an unexpected sexiness, was just rolling her eyes around for no reason.
If his arms are like that... she wondered how much more splendid his body hidden under his shirt had become.
‘What am I thinking!’
Ye-won shook her head in surprise at those thoughts.
But even so, the strange feeling of tingling below her navel was becoming clearer and clearer.
Just then, Seung-hyun approached.
“I cut them so they’re easy to eat.”
He placed the mangoes, cut neatly into bite-sized pieces, on the table and sat next to Ye-won.
“Ah, I forgot the forks. Where are the forks...”
“I’ll get them! I’ll go get them!”
Ye-won jumped up from her seat because she was more than a little conscious of Seung-hyun sitting right next to her.
The space between the table and the sofa was narrow, and the moment she tried to step over Seung-hyun’s long legs,
“......!”
Ye-won felt her body tilting backward.
She flailed her arms, but in that instant when she realized something was wrong, Seung-hyun’s firm arm was felt against her back.
When she opened her tightly closed eyes, Seung-hyun, looking a little angry, was looking at Ye-won.
Although she was pregnant, her back was arched, so she was tightly pressed against Seung-hyun, even her lower body.
Ye-won, who had been having strange fantasies, was overwhelmed by an indescribable feeling.
“I told you to be careful.”
“......”
“Are you okay?”
She didn’t know why everything about Seung-hyun seemed special today.
After suffering so much heartache, her heart was so easily swayed because he had visited Busan every day for less than a week.
Ye-won was distressed that she seemed like such an easy woman.
Of course, it was difficult to compare because she had no experience meeting other men, but she was definitely weak to Seung-hyun.
If she was just going to be swayed by kindness, she would have already fallen for Min-ho.
“Why aren’t you answering? Does your stomach hurt? Or did you sprain your back...”
“Can I kiss you?”
No matter how much she pushed him away and ignored him, the embers of her sincerity towards Seung-hyun were still alive.
The moment she uttered the word ‘kiss,’ the dying fire grew in size within her.
‘I like Seung-hyun too.’
It was time to admit it.
She wondered if she would be rejected, but as expected, Seung-hyun raised the corners of his lips and gently cupped Ye-won’s chin with his other hand.
“Why do you need my permission?”
“Because I don’t want to do something you don’t want, against your will.”
At that answer, Seung-hyun looked at Ye-won with an adorable gaze and stroked her cheek with his thumb.
“As for things related to you, I don’t dislike anything or do anything against my will, except for breaking up.”
“......”
“Look now. You can see my reaction as soon as you mention kissing.”
Because of their tightly pressed bodies, Ye-won could immediately understand Seung-hyun’s words, which had no subject.
Ye-won’s face flushed at the sensation that was felt so clearly.
“Don’t ask for my permission even if you want to do more than kissing. I like it all, no matter how you act as much as you want.”
Ye-won found these changes in Seung-hyun very strange.
A man who seemed like he would do everything except love was saying such things with that face... Ye-won was so aroused that it was hard to bear.
“Then give me a kiss.”
Before Ye-won could finish speaking, Seung-hyun overlapped his lips with hers.
Even though he was just repeatedly biting and releasing her lips gently, Ye-won felt like her body was melting away.
When she parted her lips and Seung-hyun invaded, a sweetness she had never felt before poured into her mouth.
A kiss filled with affection made Ye-won more aroused than the intense sex they had on the bed.
“Haah.”
As her breathing gradually became heavier, Ye-won almost clung to Seung-hyun.
Seung-hyun moved his tongue meticulously, exploring every corner of Ye-won’s mouth.
The excitement that had risen from her toes had filled her head before she knew it.
Her whole body was already wet with excitement.
This meant that kissing alone was not enough.
“Haah, Seung-hyun.”
Ye-won pushed Seung-hyun’s chest with both hands and looked up at him.
She was worried about how Seung-hyun would react if she wanted sex in her pregnant state.
But a moment ago, Seung-hyun had said that she didn’t need his permission for anything more than a kiss.
Ye-won moved her slightly trembling hand and touched Seung-hyun’s pants buckle.
Seung-hyun’s eyes widened for a moment and then returned to normal.
“Are you sure?”
Seung-hyun asked with a hot breath and a worried voice.
Ye-won nodded.
“It’s okay because I’m past five months, so I’m in a stable period. Tell me if you feel uncomfortable. Even you...”
It was the first time she felt sorry for Seung-hyun’s manhood, which was so swollen that she could feel its shape.
It would be difficult to spend the night having sex several times like before, but Ye-won wanted to do it within a limit that wouldn’t be too much.
No, it might be that Ye-won wanted it more.
“I don’t want you to be the only one satisfying your desires.”
Seung-hyun’s hand slipped into Ye-won’s T-shirt.
He immediately released her bra hook.
Her breasts, which had grown a little due to hormones, moved elastically.
Seung-hyun brought his hand from her back to the front and cupped Ye-won’s breasts.
Then he gently pressed and rubbed the hard spot with his thumb.
“Uhh.”
Perhaps it was because it had been so long, Ye-won’s lower body tightened, getting wet from that movement alone.
“It’s been a while, this face.”
“Haah, I also want to see Seung-hyun’s face... Uht!”
How much she had missed Seung-hyun’s face, full of excitement, which she had only seen in her dreams.
Ye-won immediately unbuckled Seung-hyun’s pants.
She pulled them down slightly along with his underwear, and the head was already visible.
It was already swollen to the point of being uncomfortable.
“I wanted to do this for you.”
Ye-won took out all of Seung-hyun’s manhood and knelt in front of him, opening her mouth wide.
Ye-won was the first to wake up from sleep in the sunlight coming through the window.
“Hmm.”
Ye-won tried to wake herself up by stirring slightly, but she felt a weight on her waist.
Wondering what it was, she opened her eyes.
“......!”
Ye-won was shocked by Seung-hyun’s face right in front of her.
Seung-hyun was sound asleep, holding Ye-won’s waist with his firm arms.
‘That’s right. Yesterday... we were together.’
Only then did she recall what had happened in the early morning.
─’Ye-won-ah. Haah.’
─’Ah, it feels like it’s going to break.’
Every single moment of that time that led Seung-hyun and Ye-won to ecstasy.
Especially the sight of Seung-hyun unable to hide his excitement and reaching his climax when Ye-won caressed him...
It was unbelievably lewd and erotic.
Ye-won became excited as she watched Seung-hyun’s appearance.
Although they held each other carefully and moved their bodies slowly, it was the most satisfying night she had spent with Seung-hyun.
This was probably because she realized that Seung-hyun’s heart was no different from her own.
Before, it felt like she was just clinging to Seung-hyun’s shell and craving love, but yesterday was truly sex where they shared love.
‘I should have just... accepted him that day.’
Since it was going to be like this anyway.
She felt sorry for making Seung-hyun suffer for almost a week.
But on the other hand, she also thought,
‘It’s okay. How much heartache have I been through?’
She also wanted to enjoy the present.
She hadn’t yet told Seung-hyun that she couldn’t live without him either, so he must be waiting for an answer.
Ye-won decided to delay the time just a little more.
Just then, Seung-hyun moved his lips.
“Can you tell me how long I have to pretend to be asleep?”
“Oh my. You were awake?”
Ye-won, startled, replied with an awkward smile.
“Yeah. I was already awake before you were.”
Seung-hyun chuckled and tucked Ye-won’s hair behind her ear, then lightly kissed her cheek.
Her body temperature rose in the area where his lips touched and fell away.
It was the first time they had such a sweet morning scene.
As if the sea in her belly also felt Ye-won’s happiness, she felt fetal movement.
Ye-won placed her hand on her belly and slowly stroked it, then hesitated for a moment and looked at Seung-hyun.
“Do you know about fetal movement?”
She asked cautiously, but Seung-hyun had a face as if he was asking if there was anyone who didn’t know about it.
“Don’t tell me the sea is reacting to my voice?”
She wasn’t sure what it was, but Ye-won didn’t want to disappoint Seung-hyun, whose eyes were full of anticipation.
Ye-won nodded and intertwined her fingers with Seung-hyun’s.
The sea, which had been moving actively until just a moment ago, had become quiet as if it was a lie.
Seung-hyun and Ye-won were just blinking at each other, facing each other.
She thought it would react soon, but nothing changed.
Seung-hyun showed a slightly disappointed look and moved his lips.
“Bada. Is it because you’re angry that your dad came too late? Uh...!”
“......!”
Tok Tok.
The sea reacted as if it was answering Seung-hyun’s words.
“This is fetal movement, right?”
“Yes.”
“Still, it’s telling me it’s not angry because it doesn’t want Dad to be sad.”
“Oh, come on. Bada is saying it’s angry.”
After confirming each other’s feelings and spending a hot night together, they could naturally joke in the relaxed atmosphere.
“I don’t care what it is. It’s enough that it recognizes Dad’s voice and reacts. It looks like a smart child will be born.”
At just one fetal movement, Seung-hyun seemed to be picturing even after the sea was born.
Ye-won kept smiling because she liked that side of Seung-hyun so much.
“Now get up quickly and get ready. You’ll be late.”
“I’m not going anywhere today. I’m going to be with you.”
Seung-hyun’s arms tightened, pulling Ye-won closer.
“Aren’t you going to work today?”
“Work isn’t important right now. It’s the day after you first allowed me. I can’t just leave.”
“Still. You must be busy...”
“You don’t have to worry about that. Let’s just think about the two of us today.”
Seung-hyun pulled Ye-won’s head closer and kissed her.
Her decision to tease him a little more disappeared without a trace.
Using the excuse that she shouldn’t miss the opportunity by hiding her feelings and just dragging out time like last time, she decided to give him her side.
“Weren’t you disgusted when you found out that I liked you since university?”
“Not at all. I just liked it. Actually, when Yoon Se-ah told me last time that your first love was me, and also at the year-end party. I even thought I wish it was true.”
“Really?”
Ye-won’s eyes widened and her heart started beating loudly.
So much so that she was worried that Seung-hyun might hear the sound.
“Like I said last time, I didn’t know what it felt like to give and receive love at all.”
“......”
“So I didn’t even know those feelings were love. At first, I just thought I liked your paintings, and I found you through various methods and made you my secretary. Even asking you for a contractual marriage.”
“......”
“It was all love, but I realized it too late. I only really understood after you disappeared.”
Seung-hyun’s sincerity settled firmly in Ye-won’s heart.
The land of her heart, which had only been cracked and dry like a drought, was soon covered with green grass.
“If it wasn’t you, I would have divorced the moment I heard that proposal, and I wouldn’t have accepted the pregnancy.”
“Really... Do you really like me? Not just a fleeting emotion?”
Ye-won wanted to be confirmed more.
No, it was more like she wanted to keep hearing him say that he loved her.
“It’s not just liking, I love you. It’s not a fleeting emotion, it was only you from the beginning until now.”
“Seung-hyun.”
Ye-won felt like she was going to cry at his sincere confession and hugged him tightly.
She took a breath with her face buried in Seung-hyun’s chest.
“I love you, Ye-won-ah.”
“I... I love you too.”
At those words, Seung-hyun made Ye-won look at him.
“Look at my face and say it again.”
It was awkward to make eye contact, but Ye-won gathered her courage.
“I love you, Seung-hyun.”
“I love you too. Ye-won-ah.”
Without either of them saying anything first, they found each other’s lips.
Since both of them weren’t wearing any underwear, they could have each other more quickly.
The sunlight coming through the window filled the house, making everything clearly visible, but they didn’t care at all.
The first day they became one completely must have been like this.
But that day, Ye-won was left alone in the bedroom and cried a lot.
She decided to cover those painful memories with today.
“Haah.”
“Uht.”
The sound of flesh hitting flesh filled the room.
With their breathing getting faster, the speed increasing, and the moans deepening, Seung-hyun and Ye-won couldn’t come to their senses.
It was a hotter morning than dawn.
Seung-hyun and Ye-won decided to have a late breakfast.
He said they could go out to eat, but Seung-hyun went to a nearby mart and bought groceries.
A simple breakfast to eat before going out for a proper lunch later.
Ye-won wanted it, so Seung-hyun started making salad and sandwiches.
‘This is good.’
Now she didn’t have to worry about Seung-hyun finding out her feelings.
She had become someone who could look at him as her heart desired, feel him, and approach him.
Ye-won lay on the bed and watched Seung-hyun moving busily in the small kitchen, then carefully got up.
Then she quietly approached Seung-hyun and hugged him tightly from behind.
Seung-hyun, who hadn’t noticed Ye-won coming until now, flinched slightly.
“I told you to lie down.”
“I just want to be like this. I actually feel like I’m dreaming right now.”
“It’s not a dream.”
“I never thought a day like this would come with Seung-hyun. I thought I would have to hide these feelings forever.”
Seung-hyun turned around and faced Ye-won.
“Let’s go up to Seoul right away.”
“Well... there are still some things I’m worried about. I’m pregnant, so I shouldn’t get stressed, but in case...”
Ye-won trailed off and spoke with a worried voice.
“My father is divorced. My mother left the house a few days ago. No, it would be more appropriate to say she was kicked out.”
“What?”
“That person will never appear in front of you again. I won’t let such a thing happen.”
“Why all of a sudden?”
“The other family members found out about the terrible things that person did to you.”
Ye-won’s mouth opened wide.
At first, she was just surprised, but soon she changed her mind to relief.
Jong-hee was the main person who made her most worried about reuniting with Seung-hyun.
“Yoon Se-ah has run away. I’m glad I didn’t start working with such an irresponsible person.”
Ye-won couldn’t believe all these changes.
It was amazing that those who had been poking at her like an awl had suddenly disappeared like snow melting in spring.
“So let’s go, Ye-won.”
“......”
“To our house.”
It might be too sudden of a decision, but Ye-won decided to do as her heart desired.
Ye-won nodded at the same time as she smiled brightly.
“Okay.”
Seung-hyun’s face brightened at that answer.
“I want to move right away before you change your mind, but first, you and the sea must be hungry, so I’ll start making breakfast.”
“I won’t change my mind. Take your time.”
She didn’t know why she liked seeing Seung-hyun impatient in front of her so much.
A smile spread across Ye-won’s lips.
“First, you, go back and lie down again.”
“No. I want to do it together. Isn’t there anything I can help with?”
Ye-won even rolled up her sleeves, but Seung-hyun shook his head firmly and tapped his cheek with his index finger.
“Just give me a kiss here and go. That’s all I need.”
“Hehe.”
Ye-won, who burst into laughter, put her arms around Seung-hyun’s neck and kissed him not on the cheek but on the lips.
Chop, chop, chop, chop, chop.
Not just once, but five times.
Seung-hyun’s eyes, which had been changing little by little every time their lips touched and parted, were shining brightly at the end.
“Ah!”
He immediately picked up Ye-won and sat her on the sink.
Then he pushed his firm body between her legs.
“I want to go back to bed, but it seems like it would be too much for you. I’ll just kiss you.”
Seung-hyun gently took Ye-won’s lips into his mouth.
Hoping that these days would continue in the future, Ye-won pictured the happiness of her future with Seung-hyun.
Their lips didn’t part easily and tasted each other for a long time.
It felt like they had the whole world.
Seung-hyun and Ye-won packed their things roughly.
The volume of their luggage had decreased even more than when they first left the house, and the suitcases they brought were almost empty.
They decided to put the baby shoes they had placed by the bedside in Seung-hyun’s car.
“Someone else will come and organize the furniture, so you don’t have to worry. Did you pack all the necessary luggage?”
“Yes, I’m all done.”
When Ye-won answered energetically and grabbed the handle of the suitcase, Seung-hyun frowned.
“From now on, I’ll do all of that.”
“There’s not much luggage, so it’s not heavy at all.”
“Still, I don’t like it. Give it to me because I want to do everything for you.”
Seung-hyun held out his hand.
Ye-won handed the suitcase to Seung-hyun and then took his other hand.
She felt excited by Seung-hyun’s body temperature seeping through her fingers.
Ye-won looked back at the house where she had memories of the past five months.
She had cried a lot in this space and tried countless times to comfort herself and live.
‘Thank you for everything, until now.’
She couldn’t give up everything for the sake of the sea in her belly.
It was a little comforting to think that Seung-hyun had also suffered in the same pain during that time.
If it was a necessary time for them, it couldn’t be helped, but it was a pain she didn’t want to experience again.
As much as it had been difficult, she sincerely hoped that only happy things would happen between Seung-hyun and her from now on.
Ye-won stopped by the obstetrics and gynecology clinic to pick up her medical records.
She also decided to get the checkup that she had booked for tomorrow.
“Kim Ye-won.”
“Yes, please sit over there.”
Following the nurse’s guidance, Seung-hyun and Ye-won sat in the waiting area.
It was a new feeling to come to the obstetrics and gynecology clinic, which she had always come to alone, with Seung-hyun.
She had envied the sight of other pregnant women chatting while looking at ultrasound photos with their husbands.
So she was very happy now that she was with Seung-hyun.
“From now on, always come with me for checkups. Promise me.”
“I will.”
While repeating the same promise, they smiled at each other over and over again.
She was also worried that this happiness, which was so overwhelming that it didn’t seem to be hers, might disappear in an instant.
But since Ye-won had reunited with Seung-hyun after a difficult time, she decided not to have any more bad thoughts.
There wasn’t enough time to just talk about happy and pleasant things.
“Kim Ye-won, please come into the examination room.”
At that moment, the nurse called Ye-won.
It was her first time entering the examination room with him, so Ye-won was a little nervous.
When Seung-hyun and she entered the examination room, the doctor looked at them alternately with a slightly surprised look and then smiled.
“You two came together today.”
“Yes, that’s how it happened.”
“You look especially bright today, Mom. Our sea must be happy too, right? Okay, let’s start with the ultrasound.”
Following the doctor, she went inside and lay down on the examination table.
After applying gel to Ye-won’s stomach and rubbing it with the ultrasound machine, the sea began to appear on the black screen.
The sea, which was a small dot at first, now had a human form.
“Wow.”
Seung-hyun exclaimed from behind the curtain.
Ye-won just kept smiling because everything was so good.
“The sea seems to be in a good mood too. You can see it moving, right?”
“Haha, you’re right.”
“Today, we’ll also do a detailed ultrasound.”
The black screen turned orange.
Then the sea’s appearance became more detailed.
Ye-won was also seeing this scene for the first time, so she stared intently at the monitor.
“Oh my. After moving so much, look at it facing the front to show its face to Mom and Dad. It looks like it resembles Dad, right?”
Even with the rough outline, the sea resembled Seung-hyun more than Ye-won.
Ye-won, who wanted the baby, whether it was a son or daughter, to resemble Seung-hyun, was satisfied.
“Here are the hands and feet, and this is the umbilical cord.”
With the doctor’s kind explanation, Ye-won was able to meet the sea to her heart’s content.
It seemed to be making some kind of expression, but she couldn’t see it clearly.
“The baby is going to be very pretty. And we’ll also listen to the heartbeat.”
Although they couldn’t share that first moment together, Ye-won was happy to hear the baby’s heartbeat with Seung-hyun now.
When the doctor touched the machine,
Thump thump thump thump.
The fast and strong heartbeat filled the examination room.
It was as overwhelming a moment as the first time.
Ye-won’s eyes turned red.
After the ultrasound, when they went to the doctor’s desk,
Seung-hyun, who was trying to hold back tears, was waiting for Ye-won there.
“You’ve worked hard. I’ll prepare the medical records up front.”
“Thank you for everything.”
“Thank you too. I hope you have a good time with the baby for the rest of the time and have a healthy delivery.”
“Thank you.”
This time, Seung-hyun answered.
His voice was full of moisture.
Seung-hyun and Ye-won, who had picked up the medical records and left the hospital, got into the car.
They each took out one of the ultrasound photos they had received a lot of today.
“This is a strange feeling.”
“Why? Does it feel strange now that you’ve actually seen it?”
Ye-won turned her head towards Seung-hyun.
“I feel like I’ve really become a dad. And I feel so sorry for not knowing until it grew this much...”
“Stop feeling sorry about that. It was something we couldn’t help.”
Seung-hyun looked at Ye-won quietly and then hugged her.
Hot breath scattered on her neck.
“I’m really sorry.”
“Why are you like this again?”
“I’ll live as a sinner to you for the rest of my life. We could have shared more joy together. I feel so foolish for missing it all... it’s painful.”
Seung-hyun’s body trembled slightly.
Eventually, he started crying.
Ye-won patted Seung-hyun’s back, waiting for his trembling to subside.
She felt like a special person because she knew that she was the only one who could see this side of Seung-hyun.
When the car became quiet, Ye-won parted her lips.
“You came to find me, so we’re together now. We might not have met for the rest of our lives, but can’t you just think that thanks to you, our family can live together?”
“Why are you so kind? From now on, just live badly. Say everything you want to say.”
Seung-hyun took his body away from Ye-won and looked at her crookedly with reddened eyes.
Ye-won liked even that.
“Kind? How much did I curse at Seung-hyun and the in-laws all this time? I’m not kind at all.”
“That’s not about being kind or unkind, that’s what you had to do.”
“And my actions will affect your reputation, so I can’t act as I please.”
“It’s okay. Just live doing everything you want to do, Kim Ye-won.”
“Okay, I’ll definitely do that. No changing your mind later, okay?”
“Of course.”
Of course, that wouldn’t happen.
When Ye-won smiled, Seung-hyun smiled too.
“How did you feel when you heard the sea’s heartbeat earlier?”
“It felt like the sea was running towards me to hug me, so I was overwhelmed.”
Ye-won was amazed at Seung-hyun, who expressed the heartbeat, which was beating several times faster than an adult’s, as if it was running towards him.
Ye-won decided to write down these words in the diary she was writing to show the sea when it grew up.
And in that moment,
“Oh my!”
“What’s wrong?”
“The diary. I forgot the diary!” She remembered leaving it in the dresser drawer of the house she had been living in. “Calm down and put on your seatbelt. I’ll leave right away.” As Seung-hyun said, Ye-won buckled her seatbelt. She was worried that the workers might have already started working and the diary might have disappeared.

However, the house they soon arrived at was intact, contrary to her worries. “Thank goodness.” She couldn’t express how relieved she was that they hadn’t started working yet. “It’s a diary I write every day to give to the sea as a gift later, and I was so surprised when I thought I was going to lose it.”
“What do you write in it?” Seung-hyun showed interest. “I just think of it as writing letters to the sea and write about various things.”
“Then let me join you.”
“Really? I think Bada would be so excited if Mom and Dad wrote together.” Ye-won realized that she had referred to Seung-hyun and herself as “Mom and Dad” for the first time. Her heart tingled with a strange feeling. “Please get me the same diary.” “Okay.” “Then let’s go now. You didn’t forget anything else, did you?”
“No, I didn’t.” Seung-hyun and Ye-won held each other’s hands as if it was natural. They looked like any other couple. As they were about to get into the car, enjoying the fullness of happiness, Ye-won’s eyes caught a familiar face. “Oh? Mr. Min-ho!”

Seung-hyun’s head snapped in the direction Ye-won was looking. ‘That bastard.’ Seung-hyun’s eyes narrowed. ─’From what Min-ho said, she seems to be a pitiful single mother with no husband and nowhere to go. How long are you going to keep up that pride?’ Those unpleasant words, which he had forgotten because he was so happy with Ye-won, came back to his mind.

‘I specifically told him not to show up again. He really doesn’t take people’s words seriously.’
Seung-Hyun’s eyes pierced through Min-Ho as if trying to bore a hole into him.
Meanwhile, Yewon, completely oblivious, was smiling brightly.
She had no idea about the hospital call record that had been deliberately deleted that day, so her ignorance was only natural.
“Min-Ho, what brings you here without contacting me first? I was just about to head back to Seoul. We almost missed each other.”
“Oh, you’re going back to Seoul...?”
“Yes. Actually… I’ve decided to reconcile with my husband.”
“I see. Congratulations.”
Despite his congratulatory words, Min-Ho’s face turned pale.
He had likely come to apologize to Yewon about what happened that day. But seeing her act as though nothing had happened must have left him confused.
“Seung-Hyun, this person owns the café I frequented in Seoul. After coming to Busan, he took great care of me. He’s someone I’m very grateful to.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Cha Seung-Hyun, Yewon’s husband.”
Seung-Hyun deliberately emphasized the word ‘husband’ when introducing himself.
“Thank you for taking care of Yewon until now. Let me treat you to dinner sometime in Seoul.”
It was a lie devoid of any sincerity.

That night, after receiving an unsettling phone call, Seung-Hyun spent several days ruminating.
He couldn’t decide whether it would be better to tell Yewon about Min-Ho or to bury the matter entirely.
He still hadn’t made up his mind. But hearing Yewon refer to Min-Ho as a “kind person” made him glad he had kept silent.
He didn’t want to ruin Yewon’s mood. All he wanted now was to see her smiling face all the time.
“By the way, Min-Ho, what brings you here so suddenly?”
“I had to meet a friend, so I came. I thought I’d stop by to see your face while I was here.”
“Oh, you have friends in Busan?”
“Yeah, something like that.”
Given how awkwardly he trailed off, it was clear he was making excuses.
Seung-Hyun could see right through Min-Ho’s dark intentions.
The only relief was that Min-Ho had shown up while Seung-Hyun was with Yewon.
Considering how Min-Ho introduced Yewon to his friends as a single mother who got rejected, Seung-Hyun was certain there was something wrong with Min-Ho’s character.
If it had been Seung-Hyun, he wouldn’t have hesitated to get into a physical altercation the moment someone said such things about Yewon.
He was immensely relieved that Yewon hadn’t fallen for someone like that.
A bitter smile formed on Seung-Hyun’s lips.
“Well then, we’ll be on our way.”
“Yes, see you next time.”
“Sure.”
“Min-Ho, I hope you have a good time meeting your friend!”
Yewon waved at Min-Ho before getting into Seung-Hyun’s car.
‘There’s no need for her to know everything.’
After closing the passenger door where Yewon sat, Seung-Hyun raised his gaze to look at Min-Ho.
Though no words were exchanged, his eyes conveyed the message clearly: Never come near Yewon again.

“…Huh?”
Yewon’s eyes shot open as she sat up.
Feeling her stir, Seung-Hyun chuckled softly and placed his hand over hers.
“Did you sleep well?”
“When did I fall asleep? Why didn’t you wake me?”
The drive from Seoul to Busan wasn’t short, and Seung-Hyun felt guilty for letting her sleep through it alone.
Judging by the lack of memory of their conversation, she must have dozed off almost immediately after they started.
“You were sleeping soundly. Why would I wake you?”
“But still…”
“You’re pregnant. Instead of worrying about me, you should think of Bada first.”
Unable to argue with his logic, Yewon sighed in embarrassment.
“Shall we go inside?”
“Yes.”
“Just wait a moment.”
Seung-Hyun stepped out of the driver’s seat, walked around the hood, and approached Yewon’s side.
Opening the door and extending his hand, his gentle demeanor revealed genuine affection. It felt both unfamiliar and thrilling.
Hand in hand, the two entered the house together, truly united as a loving couple.
“It’s been such a long time.”
“Now it finally feels like home is complete. Without you, it felt so empty I didn’t even want to come back.”
“But… everything’s exactly the same? I thought you’d have cleared out my things.”
“Why would I clear them out when I knew you’d return?”
Seung-Hyun had been certain that they would inevitably reunite.
She couldn’t express how grateful she was that he never let go of her, even for a moment.
“Could it be that the studio is still the same too?”
“Sorry, but I cleaned that room a few days ago.”
“Huh? Why?”
It was strange that he cleaned it only recently, not right after she left.
Curious, she looked up at him. Seung-Hyun took her hand and led her.
“I have something to show you.”
“What is it?”
“You’ll see when we get there.”
Yewon followed Seung-Hyun up the stairs to the second floor.
They stopped in front of the room she had used as her studio.
As she wondered what his intentions were, the door opened.
“Wow.”
Her eyes widened in amazement.
“I decorated it myself. Do you like it, Bada?”
The space had been transformed into a nursery. It was fully equipped with everything needed for a baby, as if an entire store had been moved in.
Having never had her own room, even after marriage, Yewon had dreamed of preparing one for Bada. But the items she liked were expensive, so she had planned to compromise on quality later.
When she thought she’d have to raise the child alone, the idea of giving up on her preferences was heartbreaking. But Seung-Hyun had brought her dreams to life.
“It’s so beautiful.”
“I’m glad you like it. And there’s one more gift.”
“Another one? What is it?”
Seung-Hyun simply shrugged.
They arrived at another room connected to the terrace.
Excited to see what it held, Yewon opened the door.
Inside, her art supplies were neatly arranged.
“I heard from Mrs. Choi that you enjoy drinking tea on the terrace and sometimes step out while working. So I moved everything here.”
“Seung-Hyun…”
“This room is bigger, so I thought it’d be nice to work alongside you while you paint.”
“Thank you.”
She wished she could express the overwhelming emotions in more than just four words.
Tears welled up in Yewon’s eyes as she tightly embraced Seung-Hyun.
It wasn’t just gratitude for creating a space for her and Bada—it was the realization that she had become someone truly special to him, which moved her deeply.
“Sniff.”
“Why are you crying?”
Even Seung-Hyun’s voice trembled slightly as he spoke.
“I’m just so happy.”
“So am I. Thank you for coming back. I’m sorry for making you cry alone.”
“We agreed not to keep apologizing to each other.”
“I’ve done so much wrong to you. So it’s okay. Yewon, I’m truly sorry—for everything, from the beginning until now.”
Seung-Hyun apologized once again.
He wouldn’t know—since the moment he returned, Yewon had already forgiven him.
“I won’t disappoint you ever again.”
“There’s nothing to disappoint me about.”
Yewon glared at Seung-Hyun with teary eyes as he continued to belittle himself, but he didn’t stop.
“I’ve never been in a relationship before, so I don’t know much. If there’s anything that bothers you, tell me. If I’m lacking somewhere, let me know.”
“Seung-Hyun.”
“There’s just one thing I want to ask of you.”
“A request? What is it?”
After a brief pause, Seung-Hyun spoke.
“I realized I’m more narrow-minded than I thought.”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“I always thought jealousy was childish… but seeing you with that Min-Ho guy made me feel all churned up inside.”
Seung-Hyun pressed his large hand against his chest.
Embarrassed by what he was saying, his ears turned red.
“I know it’s wrong of me to feel this way toward someone who helped you. But…”
“I understand. I won’t meet him anymore.”
Before Seung-Hyun could finish, Yewon cut him off.
His face lit up with relief.
“You’d do that for me?”
“Of course. You’re my number one priority. After all this time and effort to find each other again, I have no intention of doing anything that displeases you.”
“Thank you for understanding. I was worried you might not agree…”
“I don’t like seeing you with other women either. I’ve been jealous of Se-Ah since I was in college.”
Pouting, Yewon stuck out her lips. Amused by her expression, Seung-Hyun laughed with squinted eyes.
Seung-Hyun’s laughter made Yewon happy.
“I didn’t know you had such a cute side.”
“It’s because you see me as cute.”
“As long as I’m the only one who sees it, that’s fine.”
Yewon wrapped her arms tightly around Seung-Hyun’s waist.
The scent of him filled her senses, and she felt overwhelmed by the knowledge that she could embrace him whenever she wanted.
“That tickles.”
Seung-Hyun kissed the nape of her neck. Though it tickled, Yewon stayed still, enjoying the sensation.
Suddenly, something touched her collarbone.
“Huh?”
Looking down, she found a necklace resting there.
When she looked at Seung-Hyun, he smiled contentedly.
“It suits you perfectly.”
“What is this?”
“This is the gift I bought to propose to you.”
“Really… this is for me?”
“I’m finally giving it to you. I’m glad it’s found its rightful owner.”
Seung-Hyun and Yewon sat silently for a moment, simply gazing at each other’s faces.
“Marry me.”
When Seung-Hyun first brought up the idea of a contract marriage, he had said the exact same words: “Marry me.”
But now, so much had changed—no, everything had changed.
From the way they looked at each other to the very essence of their relationship, everything was different.
In this moment, just meeting his gaze made her feel the depths of his love, and it filled her with an overwhelming sense of happiness.
And then there was Bada, their precious child growing inside her.
It was a moment of utter perfection, without a single thing missing.
Yewon felt a lump rising in her throat and could only nod vigorously instead of speaking.
Tears welled up in Seung-Hyun’s eyes as well.
“I love you, Kim Yewon.”
“I love you too.”
If fate truly existed, it was surely talking about these two.
If it weren’t for each other, neither would have ever experienced a moment like this.
From the very beginning until now, their hearts had been completely filled with one another. They decided to start anew, properly this time.
They believed that as long as they were together, every moment would shine brilliantly.
“Even if I were reborn, I’d only love you.”
“Me too.”
With warm gazes, Seung-Hyun and Yewon’s lips met in a tender kiss.
Now, they were each other’s entire world.
Had they ever felt this happy before?
The once-empty spaces in their hearts were now completely filled, overflowing with love.
They felt incredibly fortunate to have each other.

Their newly rekindled married life was as sweet as holding a mouthful of cotton candy.
Every morning when she opened her eyes, Seung-Hyun was always by her side, and he never missed a chance to greet both Yewon and Bada.
“Our Yewon, did you sleep well? Did you have a good night, Bada?”
With a face brimming with happiness, Seung-Hyun gently caressed Yewon’s noticeably swollen belly.
And then, sometimes…
“Seung-Hyun, don’t you have to go to work?”
“It doesn’t feel like going to work is the most important thing right now.”
Despite his busy schedule, he couldn’t resist sharing moments of passionate love with Yewon.
Seven months into her pregnancy.
Though her belly had grown significantly, there were still plenty of comfortable positions for intimacy.
Yewon tried to hold back, fearing any discomfort might affect Bada, but the more they connected, the better it felt.
Though he denied it with words, it seemed like Yewon enjoyed it even more.
Even knowing Seung-Hyun had to leave for work, she’d sometimes ask for one more round.
“Let’s eat out tonight. I’ll pick you up after work.”
After their deep lovemaking, as Yewon exhaled a shaky breath, Seung-Hyun pressed his lips to her forehead.
The warmth, softness, and ticklish sensation made her smile involuntarily.
“Didn’t Grandfather say to visit the main house tonight?”
“Oh, I forgot about that.”
Regret tinged Seung-Hyun’s voice.
Yewon wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him close, planting a loud kiss on his lips.
Seung-Hyun responded with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“I think I should head to work in the afternoon. It’d be nice to have a quiet lunch with you before leaving.”
“That’s impossible! If you suddenly do this, Grandfather will get upset with me.”
“I need to taste these adorable lips of yours first.”
“Wait a…!”
Her words were swallowed into Seung-Hyun’s mouth.
He clearly didn’t want to hear anything else.
“Mmm…”
From the very start, Seung-Hyun thrust deeply, wrapping his tongue around hers and pulling her into a passionate kiss.
Intense moans filled the air, their breathing grew heavy, and their bodies pressed tightly together.
Seung-Hyun rubbed himself against her, as hard as if it were their first time.
Soon, the two became one.
“Ah, Seung-Hyun…”
“Ahh, I think I’m going crazy.”
Every place he touched awakened a tingling sensation, stirring unfamiliar yet electrifying feelings.
It was only natural that the more they did this, the better it felt compared to the first time.
“Hnn…”
As Yewon moved in rhythm with Seung-Hyun’s pace, fireworks exploded behind her eyelids, and she felt as though her body was melting away.
At that exact moment, Seung-Hyun and Yewon reached their climax together.
“I love you, Yewon.”
“I love you, Seung-Hyun.”
Their warm gazes overflowed with pure happiness.

Arriving at the main house in Seongbuk-dong just in time for dinner, Seung-Hyun and Yewon parked their car in the garage.
Naturally, they held hands as they walked toward the main building.
“Be careful.”
“There’s not a single dangerous spot here.”
Yewon couldn’t help but smile at how overprotective Seung-Hyun was being—it made her heart flutter.
As they entered the house with cheerful expressions, Han-Joo greeted them warmly.
“Why did you come all the way out here?”
“Our daughter-in-law is coming. Isn’t it only natural?”
“I’m here too.”
Though Seung-Hyun tried to appeal to Han-Joo, his gaze remained fixed solely on Yewon.
“Come inside. You shouldn’t stand for too long. Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”
“No, I’m fine, Grandfather. I feel like pregnancy suits me perfectly. And Seung-Hyun has been taking great care of me too.”
Yewon gently rested her head on Seung-Hyun’s arm.
Han-Joo watched the two with satisfaction before turning around.
“Let’s start with dinner.”
With those words, the meal began.
The table was laden with an extravagant feast, as if the legs might break under the weight of all the delicacies.
They enjoyed the delicious food while chatting, and only after dessert did they finally rise from their seats.
Moving to the living room, a servant brought out fragrant tea and traditional Korean sweets.
“Help yourselves.”
“I’ll enjoy it, Grandfather.”
At Yewon’s response, Han-Joo slowly nodded his head.
He carefully took a sip of the warm tea before setting the cup down.
His expression grew more serious.
“There’s something I need to tell you both, which is why I called you here.”
“What do you mean, Grandfather?”
Before Seung-Hyun could finish his question, Han-Joo checked the time on his wristwatch.
“They should be arriving soon…”
Before he could finish, the doorbell rang.
After confirming the visitor on the video intercom, the servant opened the door.
“Who’s here?”
“You’ll see. Yewon, don’t be too surprised.”
“Yes, Grandfather.”
Given how seriously Han-Joo had spoken, it seemed clear that whoever was about to walk in was no ordinary person.
Holding her breath, Yewon waited. Through the glass door, a familiar, dreadful face appeared.
It was Jong-Hee.
“Grandfather.”
“Stay calm. Everything will be fine.”
Han-Joo reassured Seung-Hyun.
But Yewon’s body tensed up involuntarily.
“Are you… doing well?”
Her voice was so faint it was barely audible.
Behind Jong-Hee stood Suk-Pil.
‘I heard they divorced. Did they reconcile or something?’
Jong-Hee had even threatened Yewon’s unborn child.
Instinctively, Yewon wrapped her arms protectively around her noticeably swollen belly.
Though Jong-Hee’s eyes were lowered, Yewon still couldn’t shake her unease.
“It’s much more peaceful without you around. But are you struggling? Look at the state of you. Tsk, tsk.”
Though Han-Joo openly dismissed her, Jong-Hee simply smiled.
Gone were the luxury items that once adorned her—her appearance now looked shabby.
“Say what you came to say, then get out of my sight.”
Yewon had never seen Han-Joo look so stern.
She had always thought of him as a gentle man.
As Yewon’s eyes darted around in confusion, trying to process the situation, something unexpected happened.
“…!”
Jong-Hee slowly knelt before Seung-Hyun and Yewon.
A heavy silence filled the room.
“Yewon.”
“…”
Yewon said nothing, merely staring at Jong-Hee.
Her fists clenched tightly on her lap, trembling slightly.
“I’m sorry.”
“For what exactly? You need to spell it out if you want any sort of settlement.”
“Ha. Is this really all about money? How simple-minded of you.”
Seung-Hyun let out a bitter laugh as he looked down at the kneeling Jong-Hee.
“Forcing your way into our home to test for pregnancy, trying to have her sterilized without consent… I’m sorry.”
“But that’s not all, is it?”
At Suk-Pil’s cutting remark, Jong-Hee flinched.
“That’s right. I also made her take herbal medicine that interfered with implantation, pretending to help her conceive while actually preventing it. I’m reflecting on my actions. Can you forgive me?”
Jong-Hee looked up at Yewon with pleading eyes.
Perhaps she hoped that Yewon’s forgiveness would come with a larger settlement.
But Yewon, unwilling to see Jong-Hee benefit in any way, responded firmly.
“No. I can’t forgive you… you’re no longer my mother-in-law. Madam, I cannot forgive you.”
“Madam…!”
Even now, Jong-Hee bristled but quickly caught herself, biting her lip tightly as she glanced around the room.
“I hope you receive back everything you’ve done to hurt me over these two years.”
Yewon spoke clearly, her voice unwavering.
It felt like a heavy burden in her chest was finally lifting.
She was deeply grateful to Han-Joo for arranging this meeting.
“So I apologized. Please, spare me. Okay?”
Jong-Hee pleaded desperately, but Yewon felt no sympathy.
An insincere apology meant nothing to her.
“Grandfather, Father. May we leave now?”
Yewon looked at Han-Joo and Suk-Pil in turn.
Without hesitation, both nodded in agreement.
“Let’s go, Seung-Hyun.”
“Alright.”
Seung-Hyun stood first, taking Yewon’s hand to help her up.
Watching Jong-Hee tremble and avoid eye contact brought a strange sense of relief.
“We’ll see you next time.”
“Go ahead.”
Hand in hand, Seung-Hyun and Yewon passed by the kneeling Jong-Hee and left the house.
Once outside, they stopped and faced each other.
“You did great, Yewon.”
Seung-Hyun tucked a strand of Yewon’s hair behind her ear.
The ticklish sensation made Yewon wink and smile brightly.
“Not that kind of compliment.”
Yewon took a bold step closer and playfully pouted her lips.
Seung-Hyun leaned in and gave her a quick kiss.
From a slight distance, he whispered softly,
“The rest will be at home.”
With another light kiss, Seung-Hyun gazed at Yewon with affection brimming in his eyes.
“I love you, Kim Yewon. I don’t think I can live without you anymore.”
“I love you so much too.”
Seung-Hyun and Yewon embraced tightly, standing there for a long moment.
Every moment, fully completed by each other, was overflowing with love.
Their true life together began now.
