Psst! We're moving!
A penthouse overlooking the Han River.
The endless stream of headlights and the lights from buildings where people were pulling all-nighters—all of it seemed breathtakingly beautiful. This place was nothing short of paradise.
Overwhelmed by the stunning night view, Joo-eun turned to Minhyuk standing beside her and asked,
“But why are we here? Are you moving?”
“Moving.”
“To move?”
“To make you move.”
Had she misheard something?
Joo-eun’s eyes widened in confusion.
Just one letter difference, but the meaning felt worlds apart—suspiciously so.
Could it be… Did he mean…
“Who? Me?”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
Minhyuk’s slight frown made Joo-eun feel embarrassed.
Who could blame her for misunderstanding when he phrased it like that? She wanted to yell at him but couldn’t find the words.
“R-Right? Korean is tricky—one syllable can change everything. What was I even thinking?”
“Don’t live alone. Move in with your mom and live here together.”
“…”
“If you live alone with this view of the Han River, you’ll get depressed.”
“What do you mean…?”
“The car we saw earlier? I’m signing the contract tomorrow. That’s why we went to the showroom.”
She had found it odd when he suddenly asked to meet at the car dealership—it wasn’t like him—but she never imagined it was for her car.
While Joo-eun stood stunned, Minhyuk casually raised an eyebrow.
“Is this really so surprising?”
“Please, don’t do this. Why would I accept something like this? And what’s with this house? No way.”
This overwhelming gift didn’t excite her at all. All she could think about was rejecting it.
“Yes, you can accept it. It’s fine.”
“I know you feel guilty about what happened with Mom, but this is too much. It’s overwhelming.”
“What will you do if you already feel overwhelmed at the starting line?”
What more could he possibly give her…?
“I’ve already settled the debts with your mom.”
Tears welled up in Joo-eun’s wide eyes.
Too shocked to blink, she stood frozen, as if asking, “Is this a dream?”
“It’s not a dream. A man like me doesn’t even show up in dreams.”
He gripped her shoulders and turned her to face him.
“I’ll return everything that was taken away because of your mom’s mistake.”
“We didn’t have this much before it was ‘taken.’ This is too much…”
“I told you—it’s just the beginning.”
“Ha. I know no one can stop you, but still…”
“Every time you say something, I’ll add more.”
“Still, this is too much…”
“Tomorrow, we should look at a villa.”
A villa? Seriously!
“No, no! I won’t say anything else.”
“That comment counts too. The day after tomorrow, I’ll look into a golf club membership.”
Stop it already!
Joo-eun reached out and covered his mouth with her hand.
Even muffled by her palm, he kept mumbling, so she finally tiptoed and pressed her lips against his.
Well, technically, due to his height, she only managed to reach somewhere between his chin and lower lip.
Surprisingly enough, even this clumsy attempt made Minhyuk finally shut up.
An awkward silence followed the abrupt cut-off.
Blushing, Joo-eun turned to gaze at the night view. In the quiet, she glanced at him and their eyes met instantly.
Without hesitation, they both burst into laughter.
“Isn’t a golf club membership a bit much? For someone who’s never even held a golf club?”
“Take your mom and walk on the grass or something.”
“Wow. You’re telling me to go to a golf course because of all the grass around? Chaebols really crack me up with their money. But fine, I admit it was funny.”
As he smiled proudly, Joo-eun laughed harder, shaking her shoulders.
Minhyuk wrapped one arm warmly around her shoulders.
“When I set my mind on something, I tend to rush. I’ll take it slow. So please, don’t reject everything outright.”
Leaning her head against him, Joo-eun gazed comfortably at the night view.
“In my heart, I don’t want to accept even a single penny… But maybe Mom might be okay with it. Honestly, I can’t fully reject it because of that.”
Her honest confession made Minhyuk gently stroke her arm up and down.
“You’ve thought this through well.”
“Since my daughter says it’s good, I guess I have no choice but to accept you, Director Minhyuk. But Mom’s human—she’ll get angry often and dislike things often. When that happens, I hope these night views can comfort her.”
Though the wounds wouldn’t heal just from the view, Minhyuk hoped the same.
He tilted his head slightly and kissed the top of her head.
The cold, sterile new house filled with warmth from their presence.

The next morning. Director’s office.
Minhyuk carefully reviewed every report delivered to him each morning without missing a single detail.
Most importantly, he stared intently at the market share chart, then smirked in satisfaction before closing the document.
“There’s still a lot of Q3 left, yet we’ve already hit the target. Everyone’s exceeding expectations.”
Standing before him, Jang-wook asked with surprise, “Should we raise the target?”
“There’s still a long way to go. If we push too hard, everyone will burn out before we even reach the goal.”
“What’s gotten into you? Since when did you show mercy?”
“Someone said I was moving too fast, so I’m trying to learn to take things slower.”
“Huh? What’s moving too fast?”
Jang-wook leaned forward curiously. Minhyuk furrowed his brows.
“The things you’re thinking about.”
“Right. I’m trash. So what’s too fast?”
I wish I could tell you you’re right, idiot.
Suppressing the urge to say it, Minhyuk opened the next document.
“How’s the cleanup of GB Group shares coming along?”
At that, Jang-wook’s teasing demeanor vanished, replaced by seriousness.
“We’re quietly liquidating them bit by bit, so it’s taking some time. But according to the latest intel, we’re nearing the end. The news breaking is just a matter of time.”
“The shaking will begin in earnest from all sides.”
“Hmm… The stock price will fluctuate wildly. Maybe even more than we expect.”
“The bubble that is GB Group will simply disappear. Our value won’t change.”
“True. Still, I feel like I can already see the media screaming that our company’s going under. It’s suffocating…”
Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
At Minhyuk’s quiet invitation, Choi Daesik entered cheerfully.
“Good morning!”
With a cute wave near his ear, his eccentric entrance made it hard to believe he was a vice president.
Jang-wook frowned, clearly still unimpressed, but Minhyuk appreciated Choi’s quirky personality.
He hoped this oddball would bring fresh ideas to transform the rigid company.
“This place isn’t bad. I heard DK Media’s exterior was ugly. Guess it’s not so bad.”
Daesik wandered around the office, casually dropping blunt remarks.
Jang-wook clenched his fists behind his back and coughed awkwardly.
“Ahem! Aren’t you starting work tomorrow?”
“Oh, a friend of mine heard I became a vice president and wanted to tour the company.”
Inviting acquaintances before his official start date?
Jang-wook glared at him, almost cursing with his eyes.
“He runs JP Investments—a small company. Getting to know them could benefit you, Director.”
“JP? As in JP Investments?”
Jang-wook, who had been pouting this whole time, jumped in excitement.
Though smaller than GB Group, JP Investments had recently gained fame for its blockbuster investments everywhere it put money.
A knowing smile spread across Minhyuk’s face.
So this eccentric hadn’t come early for nothing, just as he suspected.
Impressed by Daesik’s quick progress, Minhyuk pushed off the desk and stood up.
“Then we need to turn this tour into an investment opportunity.”
“Bingo.”
Daesik rubbed his thumb and middle finger together with a snap and winked.
Watching their growing chemistry, Jang-wook felt a pang of loneliness as he alternated his gaze between the two.
Why do they shine so brightly?
Why does he feel hope that he’ll work with them for a long time?
As rays of hope shone down on this rigid company, Jang-wook’s clenched fist slowly loosened.
“We’ve got some free time this afternoon. How about meeting the executives?”
At Minhyuk’s suggestion, Daesik nodded enthusiastically.
“Sounds good. My secretary starts tomorrow, so could Secretary Byun guide us instead?”
“Ah… Yes, yes.”
Jang-wook answered with a bright smile.
The tension he’d initially felt toward Daesik had long since dissipated.

The mere fact that a legend of the OTT industry had joined DK Media as a vice president transformed the company atmosphere entirely.
With a charisma distinct from Minhyuk’s, employees buzzed with excitement.
“Good morning!”
“Good morning, Manager Song.”
Already at work and starting her tasks, Joo-eun greeted him warmly.
“Wow… Song Joo-eun first again today. I honestly thought it’d only last the first few days after she joined. How has she stayed consistent for years?”
Technically, she wasn’t exactly “first.”
Minhyuk had arrived alongside her, and Jang-wook had followed shortly after.
Joo-eun simply smiled humbly.
Within minutes, other employees began arriving, and the once-quiet office quickly grew lively.
“Hey, did you see the new vice president? He came in cycling gear today!”
Assistant Manager Kim’s loud voice echoed as he entered. Meanwhile, Manager Choi, who had been browsing the morning news, chuckled and shook his head.
“He’s definitely an oddball.”
“Manager, any interesting news today?”
“The usual—politicians arguing over who’s right. Wait, what’s this? Another strange piece of news…?”
Deep in processing morning tasks, Joo-eun slowly turned her head.
