Vivek Dandu is a hardworking pre-medical student who attends the University of Michigan. Vivek’s accomplishments range from winning an essay contest about creating an educational app for elementary schoolers in fourth grade to completing linear algebra in his junior year of high school. He loves to spend time with his two parrots named Professor Feathers and Tweety. His hobbies include tennis, grabbing food with friends, and playing the violin.
Vivek’s desire to be a doctor and his love for food are both inspired by his brother who is a vascular surgeon. In his first semester of college, Vivek was able to work on a vascular surgery research project with his brother and loved how complex and hands-on the surgeries were. Their shared love for food comes from a young age when they would compete each week to see who could find the best restaurant in their hometown. Although he has faced many obstacles in life such as breaking his arm twice, he still perseveres and stays determined to accomplish his goals.
