Hadi Chamra is in his first year at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and raised in Rochester, Michigan, Hadi grew up in a Lebanese-Syrian household where dishes like grape leaves, kibbeh, and hummus were traditional meals. Although Hadi does not cook, he loves to try new restaurants, especially those specializing in Lebanese cuisine that connects him to his Arab roots.
Hadi feels food is a gateway to experiencing new cultures. While he’s enjoyed fish in Istanbul and had the best butter chicken of his life in New York City, his favorite restaurant is Merriman’s in Maui, Hawaii, where he enjoyed a five-course meal with his family while watching the crystal clear waves roll to shore and sharing a chocolate purse with his family. He hopes to work in finance and travel the world, tasting new food from other cultures.
