Jaxon Engels is a first-year student at the University of Michigan studying Neuroscience. Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jaxon grew up in a competitive, sports-loving family, where some of his most vivid memories were made in the backyard—playing football with his brothers while his dad grilled ribeye steaks nearby. These moments sparked a lasting connection between food, family, and celebration. As a student and member of the club baseball team, Jaxon continues to explore how shared meals, especially around the grill, can shape identity and bring people together. Looking ahead, he hopes to pursue research in neuroscience and explore opportunities in business, with the goal of bridging science, innovation, and culture to create meaningful change.
