James Kim is a sophomore at the University of Michigan studying economics. He is a second-generation Korean American, born and raised in Rochester, Michigan.
While attending Rochester High School, James led social work initiatives in Detroit's inner cities and received the President's Volunteer Service Award, a prestigious national honor offered by the U.S. president in recognition of sustained commitment to volunteer service.
More recently, James interned at Signature Associates, a commercial real estate investment brokerage. There, he underwrote over $1 billion in sale-leaseback transactions and other investment sales. This summer, James will be interning at Wells Fargo in Los Angeles, California.
James is especially passionate about seafood boil. Moreover, James strongly believes in the way food can bring together people of different cultures and demographics. As a racial minority, he strives to share his love for seafood to U-M's diverse student body as a representation of his heritage and ethnic background. After graduating, James hopes to return to Los Angeles to continue pursuing a career in banking.
