Marcial De Sautu is a finance major at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan with the intention of becoming a forward-thinking service leader.
His family originated from Argentina and Cuba, but Marcial was born and raised in Miami, one of the largest cultural melting pots in the world. He enjoys visiting restaurants with his family and eating from the diverse food selection that is available to him down in south Florida.
Marcial graduated Magna Cum Laude from his high school, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, and played on the basketball team throughout his four years. He takes pride in his involvement in the organization of his alma mater’s annual Hispanic food and music fundraising event called Tómbola, which collected a school record his senior year. His favorite accomplishments include receiving the Dartmouth College Book Award, the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Award, and placing second in the DECA accounting applications district event.
After participating in business-oriented extracurricular activities, he aspires to become an investment banker and hopefully receive a job opportunity that would allow him to give back to his hometown community. Marcial hopes to incorporate aspects of his cultural identity in the global business market he seeks to enter, while also getting a taste of various different customs as he embarks on his journey.
