Darshannie Francis Drackett is a Pre-Dental student at The University of Michigan, studying Microbiology and Political Science. Born in Costa Rica and raised in Massachusetts, she is a first-generation Afro-Latina whose heritage plays a central role in both her identity and storytelling. Her passion for food is rooted in early memories—like Sunday farmer’s market trips with her mom—and extends to a deep love for Mediterranean cuisine and the dishes that connect her to home. Alongside her pursuit of a future in dentistry, Darshannie uses writing to explore how food, culture, and care intertwine, honoring the communities and traditions that have shaped her journey.
