No matter where you are from or live, people around the world include food in their cultural identities, celebrations, and gatherings to some extent. “Food feeds the soul. To the extent that we all eat food, and we all have souls, food is the single great unifier across cultures” (Choi). Sharing food stories can also help a diverse community of students from a variety of backgrounds by creating a “cultural bridge” (Veague).
Additionally, art is another form of storytelling that connections people across space and time.
"our a2: food + culture magazine" centers the connections and experiences of University of Michigan students in Ann Arbor.
All of the pieces that follow are written and edited by students at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor as English 125 class projects under the supervision of Angelé Anderfuren.
