Fiona Hemstreet is a freshman at the University of Michigan studying environmental science. Her interests go beyond science and into the kitchen, as years of baking and cooking with her family have developed her love for culinary exploration.
Intrigued by the intersection of food, culture, and science, Fiona loves to incorporate her basic chemistry principles to baking. She also draws inspiration from the knowledge gained by being raised in a hispanic household. Her grandparents, originally being from Chihuahua, Mexico, have exposed Fiona to cooking rooted in Northern Mexican techniques and flavors. Growing up in the culturally diverse environment of Los Angeles, has fueled her passion for exploring cuisine from around the globe.
Not only does Fiona have a passion for food, but journalism. She has gained years of experience in reportage style writing, through three years of writing for her high school yearbook before becoming the senior editor.
