A Chicagoan's Coffee-Filled Future
Katie Komon is a freshman at the University of Michigan. She plans on majoring in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience (BCN) on the pre-med track. Katie was born and raised in Chicago and has one younger sister and a Chocolate lab, Bailey. So far, Katie founded and was the president of the Anatomy Club at her high school, has won a few orchestra/chamber ensemble awards, and was recognized as an Illinois State Scholar in high school. Katie was an intern at the International Museum of Surgical Science and also worked at a gelato shop! Currently, at Michigan, Katie is a research assistant in an animal behavior lab and is also in a pre-health, pre-professional fraternity, ME∆. Katie loves to travel and has done most of her traveling with her grandparents and younger sister. For fun, Katie loves to bake, play softball, and try new restaurants and cafes with friends. Katie considers herself a coffee connoisseur and sees coffee as the best way to make meaningful connections with others. After graduating, Katie’s future professional interest is to get her MD, and work in women’s health as an OBGYN – ideally somewhere in a big city
