Camila is a freshman at the University of Michigan. She was born in Gainesville, Florida, but has lived her entire life in Lima, Peru. Because of this, she has had a vast exposure to the world-famous Peruvian cuisine since she was a child. Her favorite flavors within Peruvian cuisine include Japanese-Peruvian fusion, Chinese-Peruvian fusion, comida Criolla, and seafood. Food has always been a central aspect of her culture, which has fueled her passion for exploring new cuisines and sharing her culture’s food legacy with the world through writing.
Camila plans on majoring in neuroscience. She has a love of the sciences, especially biology and anthropology. She dreams of studying medicine and going back to Peru to help in rural communities. As she works towards her goals, she hopes to keep trying new foods and recognizing their cultural and medical significance as part of her growth as a professional.
