Matthew Graves is a freshman at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business studying finance. Matthew is from South Lyon, Michigan, where he got a good understanding of his cultural background through food and cooking. His favorite food is steak, and he has deep ties to many traditional Irish dishes from his family’s heritage. On campus, he enjoys going to local eateries and experiencing cuisines from different cultures. It has helped him come to a better understanding as to how a culture’s food and traditions can unite people from various backgrounds, and help to signify who they are as people. Matthew plans to continue this practice through his college experience to better understand other cultures and their traditions and food practices.
