Kaitlyn Ko is a student at the University of Michigan who has lived in Taipei, Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and Madison, Wisconsin before coming to Ann Arbor. She loves exploring each city she’s lived in and trying new restaurants in the area, with her Ann Arbor favorites being Rich JC, Sava’s, and Frita Batidos.
Besides eating out, she also loves to cook and bake at home, which is why she had a nonprofit baking business in high school that raised funds for promoting racial justice. This combines her international background and passion for creating a diverse community with her interest in baking desserts. The business, Saranghae Desserts, had an Asian focus and featured desserts like matcha crumble cookies and Chinese sponge cake.
This experience led her to pursue a BBA at Michigan’s Ross School of Business. She is involved on campus by being in MEG Consulting, TASA, and AIV. In the future, she hopes to work internationally in the food and beverage industry and earn an MBA to make a positive impact on a larger scale.
