Augustine, or AJ for those who know him, is Puerto Rican and grew up surrounded by Puerto Rican food and culture. He loves being outdoors, mainly hiking, fishing, and reading under trees. Early in life, he found Puerto Rican food to be of putting because of its strong smells, but through cooking with his grandma, he learned to take pride in it. Nowadays, he is a freshman at the University of Michigan and wants to become a PITE major. Even away at college, he maintains his pride in Puerto Rican food. He even grows culantro, a staple in Puerto Rican food, in his dorm. With his pride in culture and love for nature, he hopes to better the environment with his umich education.
