Lucas Jraiche is in his first year studying data science through the school of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan. Born and raised in the state, Lucas has always had a passion for food, stemming from his severe food allergies. This is his first endeavor into the world of writing in regards to food, with one other published essay on the Al Glick Field House in Ann Arbor. His own food allergies have allowed him to provide a unique perspective on food and the culture surrounding it, as well as giving him experience cooking for himself. Lucas’s Lebanese heritage inspired the topic and focus of this essay.
