Caroline Bassichis is a first-year Communications major at the University of Michigan with strong interests in marketing, media, and business. Born and raised in New York City, Caroline grew up in a Jewish household where food was central to family and tradition, especially weekend mornings, making her dad’s signature French toast with her sister. A passionate traveler and foodie, she’s particularly inspired by Italian cuisine and the way food brings people together across cultures. From sushi to steak, baking to brunch, Caroline sees meals as more than just nourishment—they’re moments for connection, creativity, and expression. Through the class e-magazine, she hopes to explore the stories behind food rituals, dishes, and traditions, while gaining new insight into the role food plays in shaping identity and community.
