Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Click New (button).
A new record is created at the bottom of the list. Fill in the details as follows:
Name: Type in a name for the category.
Class: Select a class from the dropdown list of classes.
Link to: Choose an option from the dropdown list:
None
Customers
Suppliers
Both: Both customers and suppliers.
Caption: Costing: Type in a caption to be used for costing.
Costing Variables: Click the box if the category will be used for costing variables.
Markup Alert: Type in an amount for the percentage markup. Any markup below that percentage will create an alert.
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Change any of the fields as needed (see How to Create a Category above for more information).
Click Save (button).
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the Category you want to create Subcategories for and select Edit Sub Category Lookup List.
Type in the subcategories one per line.
Click OK (button).
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Edit Note from the context menu.
Type in the Note.
Click Save (button).
Click Close (button).
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Change Class from the context menu.
The Category's Class field will become editable. Select a new Class from the dropdown list.
ℹ️ When you edit an item, all or only some of the available tabs can be shown.
You can select which tabs should be shown at a Category level.
Navigate to Main Menu > Items > Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Set Default Tabs.
Click all the tabs you want to show on the list. The available tabs are:
Image & Specs
Units
Costing & Pricing
Inventory
Estimating
Event
Accounting
Price History
Costing
Attachments
Dependencies
Click anywhere outside of the list to close the list.
Right-click the applicable Category and select Update all the Visible Tabs in the selected Category
Confirm that you want to update the tabs on the pop-up.
Navigate to Items.
Click Menu (button) > Edit Categories.
Right-click the Category you want to delete and select Delete from the context menu.
Confirm that you want to delete the category.
