Pumps
Overview
This module includes the data models for the Pumps industry. It includes Series (For Pumps and Motors), Products, Sites and Installations.
Pumps - Series
This table is used to record parameters at a higher level, including an Efficiency curve, which will be applied to all the pumps linked to this Type.
Fields
Type - Select from Pumps or Motors
Application - Select from Domestic, Agriculture, Mining and Industrial
Category - Lookup varies according to Type selection
Plots - Efficiency, Power, NPSH - Applicable to Pumps only. Enter plots for Efficiency, Power Curves and NPSH
Efficiency - X = Flow (m3/hr)
Flow Range and BPE are populated from the Plots. Flow Range = Lowest & Highest X on the Efficiency Plot. BPE = X linked to the highest efficiency point Y.
Compatible Motors/Pumps - This field is used to link compatible Motors to Pumps.
Pumps - Products
This table allows you to capture all the products related to Pumps and Motors in the Items module.
Fields
Type - Select from Pump, Motor, Pump & Motor, Accessory or Spares - the other fields are set according to the Type selection.
Size - Shipping - this is the crated/boxed size of the pump in DxWxL mm
Size - Pump/Motor - this is a text field that can be populated as DxWxLmm or, for a submersible pump it could be Lenth x Diameter
Pumps - Sites
This table is used to add the data related to a Pump site - all the requirements to select the correct Pump and Motor. This data can optionally be used in the Pump selection process.
Pump - Installations
Installations are used for Estimating and allow you to add a Site or just the basic pump requirements if the Site information is not available. Click the menu button next to the Sites field for options to:
Edit the selected Site
Add a new Site
Update parameters from Site - This will copy the pump selection parameters from the Site.
When the parameters have been entered, a list of suitable pumps will be displayed as well as a list of compatible motors linked to the selected Pump.
Confirm: Click the Confirm button when you are satisfied with your pump and motor selection - this function will add the Pump and Motor to the Estimate.
Edit: Click the Edit button to clear the Estimate (Pump and Motor) to change the selection.
Charts
Comparison - displays a list of the Flow vs Head curves of all the suitable pumps. The red crosshair shows the required Flow and Head, the red rectangle shows the requirement including margins.
Pump - This displays all the charts related to the Pump.
Data Pipelines for Output from an Estimate
Pump Selection Process
Pumps can be selected using a filter or by analysing the Flow, Head and Efficiency curves linked to a Pump and Series by setting Select to Filter or Calculate respectively.
Click the Confirm button to add the selected Pump and Motor to the Estimate.
Click the Edit button to change the selection.
The Comparison chart is only displayed when Select = Calculate.
All the charts have a common Y axis, which is the Flow in M3/hr.
The following parameters are used to select a range of suitable Pumps.
Category - Matched to the Series
Application - Matched to the Series
Flow - Matched to the Series - the search can be widened by adding a percentage tolerance
Head - Matched to the Pump - the search can be widened by adding a percentage tolerance.
The following parameters are used to select suitable motors for the selected Pump
Voltage - must be an exact match on the Motor
P2 Duty Point - Motor must have the same or larger Output than is required by the Pump - the first three motors that meet this criterion are selected.
Suitable Motor - The Motor must be linked in the Pump Series list of suitable Motors
Pump Fields
P2 Duty Point (Kw) - Selected from the Pump
Flow (BPE) - Selected from the Pump Series in M3/hr
Efficiency (BPE) - Selected from the Pump Series
Efficiency (Req) - Calculated as at the required Head/Flow.
Head (Req) - The required Head in meters.
Unit Price - Displayed in local currency - selected from the Item
How to create a Pump Installation Estimate Type
Navigate to the Estimate Setup module - the menu location could differ according to how the database has been set up.
Create a new Estimate Type, enter a description and set the Status to Active.
Set the Type = Pumps - Installations
Add the Stored Procedure name - EST_PUMP_INSTALL
Navigate to the Transaction setup module and add it to the Estimates > Estimate Types collection.
How to add Pumps and Motors (Products) to Items
General Setting > Default: Use Data Types - Add all the Pump Data Types
Items > Menu (button) > Edit Categories - Select Input = Pumps - Products
Tech Spec - Pump Selector Algorithm
Calculate Min/Max Values
Required Head - Max = +Tolerance; Min = -Tolerance
Required Flow - Max = +Tolerance ; Min = -Tolerance
First-Round Pump Selection:
Required Head is inside Min/Max Head of Pump
Pump Min Flow is inside Required Min/Max Flow OR Pump Max Flow is inside Required Min/Max Flow
Calculate Min/Max Efficiency
Select Max Efficiency linked to Pump; Max = +Tolerance ; Min = -Tolerance
Second-Round Test - Iterate all the Pump Flow Plots from Min Flow Req to Max Flow Req and Test:
Efficiency on Flow point is inside Min/Max Efficiency
Head => Flow point is inside Min/Max Head Required
