Item Categories

Overview

Material Categories are used to apply different settings to groups of Items.

Navigation: Items List View > Menu (Button) > EditCategories

Fields

  • Name

  • Class - Classes are a parent group to Item Categories and contain

  • Entities - Link to one or more Entities

  • Default Location - Select a default Inventory Location

  • Caption: Costing - Sets the caption for the Costing tab in the Items Edit form. Leave this field blank to default to 'Costings'

  • Costing Variables - This field enables the Variables/Options functionality in Costings.

  • Markup Alert - Used to warn users when a specific Markup is not achieved

  • Link to - Options include:

  • None

  • Customers

  • Suppliers

  • Both

Right-click on a Category to open the popup menu which allows you to:

  • Set default Tabs - set the default visible tabs for the Category.

  • Edit Sub-category lookup list

  • Update all the Visible Tabs in the selected Category
