All Parents.....Including Preschool Parents
If your student is going to miss school or preschool, please call the attendance line at 303-982-7813. School safety and protecting your children is our utmost priority. We need to account for each and every student on a daily basis. In addition, please review your Jeffco Connect account. Some of you only have one parent and no additional emergency contacts listed in the system. We ask that you go into your JC account and add extra contacts. When we have your child in the clinic or if there is an emergency, we need to be able to reach someone in a hurry. Thank you for your prompt follow through.
School Hours / Check In / Attendance
Students are allowed to arrive as early as 8:55am for our soft start. School starts at 9:05am and the tardy bell rings at 9:10am. Students are not allowed to be unattended on school grounds prior to 8:55am. If your student would like to come for our breakfast program, they can arrive at 8:40am. If your child will be arriving after the tardy bell, they will need to be signed in at the front office. There will be no access from any outside teacher doors.
If you need to call your student in absent or late, please call the attendance line (24 hour access) 303-982-7813.
The office hours are 8:30am-4:00pm. Please keep in mind that there will be no access to the building outside of these hours.
Visitors to Leawood
If you would like to volunteer to help in your student's classroom or would like to come and have lunch with your child, you will have to sign in at the front office and get a visitor's badge. If you are dropping your student off in the morning at the start of the day, you may wait with your child outside of their respective classroom doors. Due to our district security guidelines, you are not allowed to walk your child to their classrooms INSIDE at the start of the day . If you need to talk to your student's teacher, please schedule an appointment with him/her. In addition, when school dismisses at 3:45, your student will exit the school outside of the same classroom doors. We ask that you wait for your student to be dismissed.
No School for Kids: Teacher Learning Day
On Friday, September 20th, there will be no school for students. This day is for teacher learning and development.
From the Financial Office
Please go into Jeffco Connect to review and pay for your student's fees. If you are planning on completing the Application For Free/Reduced Lunch, please do it as soon as possible. Please note that all F/R information must be updated on a yearly basis. Those who qualify for Free & Reduced assistance will have breakfast, lunch, bus and all of the other school fees waived.
From the Health Room
New Medication Administration Guidelines
If you have a student who will need ANY medication at the school, there are new documents regarding administering medicine to students. A written Medication Permission Form must be signed and submitted by the parent/guardian AND signed by a health care provider for all prescription, nonprescription, and herbal medication to be administered or self-administered at school. Families shall be responsible for providing all medication to be administered to the student. These new medical forms are located on our website under the Family Resources link (Documents), as well as on our parent information rack.
The Health room is in need of girl/boy clothing, especially new underwear, pants ranging in sizes XXS-M and socks.
Leawood Families,
The Last 7 years as Leawood Health Aide have been great! This is very bittersweet for me as I am leaving Leawood to pursue an opportunity that will better help me support my family. I will miss watching your children come in the front door, helping them with all their health needs from a little hang nail, scratch on the knee, loosing teeth, and all the cute little smiles. I wish you all a happy and healthy school year!!
